Had it.
I was running on an indoor track at my local Y in high school and saw a preteen girl messing around on a spin bike. Her mom, I guessed, had told her to be careful several times and sure enough I witnessed her get a compound fracture to her lower leg. It was brutal and my memory sucks in general but I remember that one. Yikes.
Awesome thread! I couldn’t think of anything cool or unique that I’ve experienced and your post reminded me of my first experience flying in a plane. It was a two seater bi-plane! I don’t have any good action photo’s - all I have is this old photo. I was 12 and I had a blast! Just a tiny windshield in front of me and the wind blowing through my hair. The turns were a bit scary
Omg that’s horrifying! I’m scared to ask for details! Nope not gonna do it.
I’m totally gonna let my weird flag fly here lol. I talk to those who have passed on from this life on occasion. That’s pretty interesting. I get messages for people at times and they are floored when they hear them. Nothing I can call in, it just happens when it happens. Divine timing, thy will not mine-I’m just lucky enough to be conduit sometimes.
Otherwise, I think my other most electrifying experience was when I was learning energy work. I felt compelled to do reiki on a big Buddah statue I had just bought. Which, I thought was weird, however I went with it. When I did reiki on it, the energy was WAY more powerful flowing though my hands than anything I’ve ever felt. I didn’t get why as I was working on an inanimate resin statue. So, I asked who or what I was connected to. I immediately heard, “My name is Uriel and you came here to love”. Scared the shit out of me so I jumped off that thing SO fast and wondered who the hell Uriel was. Turns out, it’s an Archangel. And my name meaning literally is “loveable” or “worthy of love”. That one still to this day gives me goosebumps! I know I’m an odd and unique one but I have grown to love myself anyway these days.
Cool! It’s a neat experience. Very unreal almost I did have 1 very terrifying experience when doing the scuba course tho. We had to be at the bottom of the deep end of the pool. We had to take the mouth piece out of our mouths and throw it (it is attached to the equipment by a hose obviously but the purpose of the test was to know what to do in case it accidentally got pulled out underwater), then fill our mouths with water, and then find the mouth piece and put it back in our mouths, press the button to release the water, and then breathe. Well I couldn’t find the mouth piece bcuz I was panicking I found it literally at the last second of being able to hold my breathe. Omg
That is Hella cool!! I’ve always wanted to fly a plane like that! I’ve gone as far as googling local flight instructors. One day!
But no whirly birds, them scary!
Had two babies with no pain relief.
Edit - being a bit Western-centric, probably more women around the world have no pain relief during labour. UK friends are shocked. Or they say, “Oh, me too, I only had gas and air” and I inform them nothing means nothing here.
Oh wow. I totally wanted a natural childbirth… Until I was screaming for them to give me something-ANYTHING… But it was too late for anything except gas. That’s all I got, but wow -nothing?? Crazy.
I reached a speed of 102 km/h (63m) on my road bike descending some col in the Dolomites. Don’t think I’ll repeat that myself in this lifetime.
I had that with a pheasant. Using the wipers to get rid of it and the smears
Night climbed Mt. Fuji in Japan, and watched the sunrise from the top.
I was in an Oscar nominated movie. I had a speaking part and the nomination was for screenplay. I was about as bad an actor as possible. Everyone was doing their actors business, and there, I was, looking like a cardboard cutout, spitting out lines nervously. I believe had the scene been less important, or the budget bigger, I would have landed on the cutting room floor, justifiably. I never did anything like it again.
On the dark side, I was walking on 12th and 1st in NYC, and a mob murder had a bunch of brains and the top of a guy’s head hit me in the face, neck and shoulders. For many years following, I would crouch in fear at popping balloons or firecrackers. Life in the big city.
I’ve skinny-dipped in some pretty far out places.
Just for the craic (well, why else would you ).
In one of my first days doing door to door sales me and the person I was with knocked on a door that opened. We discovered a dead body, looked like the poor guy had fallen down the stairs.
Not a good experience, but an unusual one I think
Interesting! We don’t usually take pain relief for giving birth, it’s not very common here.
Oh wow, really? Is that a conscious decision by the women? I know Britain is less medicated than the US but assumed most of Europe was similar. I made the mistake of watching mainly programmes produced in America of women giving birth before my turn. I didn’t realise that they were all so calm because they had epidurals
I wish I had more pain relief @Misokatsu I cried when I realised I was too far along for the second shot of morphine Certainly had the gas and air though.
These are all brilliant, such a range.
I don’t have anything to contribute annoyingly (I am also that person that in ice breakers can’t think of 3 interesting facts about myself )
I should have been able to say that I have been to Church with the Queen at Windsor - every year we went to a history conference at Cumberland Lodge, and would be invited to Chapel with the Queen. Every year I would say next year and opt to attend the paper/talk that morning. Until I ran out of years. Now I really wish I had gone but at least I can say I was a good student
I’ve been bodypainted on numerous occasions and I’ve Bodypainted someone
Searching for and capturing pirates.
