Good morning new friends!
I’m one week sober from alcohol after being addicted for almost 15 years. I’m grateful for having the self awareness to stop now, at 32 years old.
I’ve learned I’m a “rebel” when it comes to my tendency (Gretchen Rubin) so I’m working on making a new identity instead of saying “I can’t drink,” refocusing on “I don’t drink.”
I’ve spent at least the last five years failing at rules, regulations, caps and plans for moderation so I woke up one day and decided that I quit. I’m happy to be here
Here’s how other folks on Talking Sober have gotten and stay sober, you might have seen these threads already. Myself, I used Antabuse, counseling, and AA. And getting arrested and convicted and put under the care of Department of Corrections (I do not recommend this method, but it did help me!).
