Paris 2024 Olympics

:orange_heart::tangerine::orange_heart: Update. Our 3X3 :basketball: guys won a crazy overtime final by beating the hosts France. What a game! What an entourage! What a finish by Worthy de Jong! :1st_place_medal:

A photo finish. I was rooting for the man from Jamaica. I am not a fan of the over preening some do in sports…I have a hard time with where is the line in just trying to psych out your competition and how are we modeling for younger people. Perhaps it is an aging/get off my lawn thing.

I still (arguably) think the Jamaican runner should have won it :joy::joy:.

I thought the arrogance was very off-putting. GB have a similar fit running the 1500 tonight where there’s a lot of WWF style posturing in the build up… I do want the Scot (Kerr) to win tonight, but I don’t get a good feel for how he presents himself…

Incredible! What a nail-biter. That was perfect - a thrill to watch :star_struck: You watch that ball and your heart goes out to it in the air!

I agree with this!!! It looked like it to my ‘Olympic judge eye!’ Plus, I am a huge fan of Jamaica :jamaica:!!!

You don’t know how many times I’ve looked at the finish line and still think Jamaica won in my judging opinion! :joy:

I had to think how to show you I’m enjoying the diving without posting swimwear pics! Mission accomplished!!

So strange to be watching First Date’s Fred Sirieux watching his daughter dive. Seems to not be going her way today

The post event interview with her showed her as a little fragile. I just wanted the interviewer to say, ‘hey let’s end here so you can be with your family!’

I like Fred and a bit of First Dates too!!

I know, she was shaking with tears. They should have let her leave the interview

Elle Purrier St Pierre qualifies in her heat for the 1500, semi’s are on Thursday. Her whole heat was slower than the other two, some smart racing there, holding back some energy.

The men’s 1500m was for me the race of the Games so far, and my bias was with GB’s Josh! So close. I did love seeing Keely win last night though.

I guess you guys practise by throwing moose or something. Congrats team Canada.

Anyway, not to be outdone by your ladies @Tragicfarinelli, our guy team sprinters set two world records on their way to gold. These guys are massive. And two of them are looking to collect more metal in the individual sprint and kering competitions.

Loads of beautiful sports this Wednesday, but my pick is Marit Bouwmeester’s gold medal in the Laser sailing class. :orange_heart::sailboat: :orange_heart: By winning today she became the most successful Olympic sailor ever, with bronze in London 2012, gold in Rio 2016, silver in Tokyo 2021 and now another gold. And in the meantime starting a family as well. Pictured here with daughter Jesse Mae.

From a Dutch perspective it’s also noteworthy both our boys and girls have made it to the finals of the hockey tournament :field_hockey:.
Tonight in athletics one of the finals is the 3000m steeple chase. Love that.

And Morocco for the win!

There was a street called “Steeplechase” in my neighbourhood when I was growing up. I never questioned it until just now when you mentioned it. I had to look it up! What a fun event! It’s like a primary school outdoor play time, but you get Olympic medals for participating :innocent:

First pole vault medal for Canada since… 1908! (After our first hammer throw medal since 1912. Something is clicking into place here. Must be the earth’s gravitational field is changing its settings in Canada :earth_americas: That would explain the golf score I got last time I played )

Newman overcame some significant obstacles to get where she is today, including grappling with some neurological challenges (her neurologist was in the stands to see her compete today!). Inspiring :innocent:
