That poor runner from Ethiopia that took a horrible fall!! That hurt to watch. Glad they showedvan update of him recovering in hospital.
The artistic swiming finals were STUNNING. Such crazy core strength, plus artistry beyond words.
Watching water polo in France today!!
North American in the house!
Good job Canada! But Italy was better
Respect to the Italians - it was a good match
Water polo is a fun sport to watch. Lots going on under the surface! Weird connection, but for me, water polo always makes me think of Star Trek: Enterprise (the series which was on from 2001-2004, starring Scott Bakula as the captain of the Enterprise NX-01): Bakula’s character was a huge water polo fan, and it would be playing in the background in his living quarters in many of the scenes there.
It was so good! Not too many Canadians here so I had to support our neighbor Such a good game! NED VS ESP is vicious right now! Tied in the 4th qtr 11 to 11 love me some ST!!
My wife was watching that - she was blown away. Amazing artistry: like watching a ballet in the water
Dutch lost after shootouts . So cool you’re there Rebecca! My story of the day so far is Sharon van Rouwendaal, who won the 10km swim in the Seine river this morning. They all had to take preventive antibiotics to swim there ‘safely’ . Well, it made her swim fast. She dedicated her win to her doggy Rio which she got after winning gold in Rio in 2016 and who died earlier this year
Tonight in athletics the big showdown between Femke Bol and Sydney McLaughlin in the 400m hurdles is going to happen. Go Femke!!!
I felt bad for Femke there. She looked out of sorts but Sydney was unstoppable anyway.
Get out of town! Isn’t sobriety great?!!
Elle Purrier St Pierre has qualified in her heat and now has placed 3rd in her semi-final. Women’s 1500 final on Saturday - gotta go fast, Elle!
Here’s one of the breaking stories (haha! Get it? Breaking ) from the b-folks, the breakers breaking at Paris Olympics 2024: the Ukrainian national breaking team!
Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!
Oi, Oi, Oi!
What a great story!!! I hope they go far, excited to watch this weekend😁
I’ll be cheering Laura and Georgia (GB). No one’s gonna stop Faith getting gold though.
Sydney would have won whatever happened. But it was hard to see Femke having such a miserable time. Hope she recovers from this.
And on we go. In athletics the Dutch have Sifan Hassan defending her title from Tokyo in the 10,000 meters today. Harrie Lavreysen is hoping to do the same in the men’s track cycling sprint. Our lady hockey players are hoping to do the same as the men and win gold in the final against China - and do it with more grace as (one of) the men, who caused a bit of a riot by taunting the German goalie after scoring the decisive goal in the penalty shootout. It’s always been a bit of a brawling fraternity types sport here.
I’ll right, I’ll be the one to say it.
The breakdancing totally sucked, with some bordering on embarrassing to the actual art of break.
I hope it gets replaced.
I like that they tried a new sport, but it’s a big swing’n’a’miss from me.
