People in Recovery and Plants! (Part 1)

Happy Sunday! :potted_plant:
This little guy is a Philodendron Brasil. He wasn’t doing well, so I moved him farther from the *light. That seemed to work, he’s doing much better, and he even has a tiny leaf emerging from the soil.

*I don’t have good windows for plants, so everything I grow is with grow lights.

Another day, another repot I’ve been itching to get to.

Euphorbia Ammak

Oct 2021
Gifted to me 3 months into living in the desert, autumn 2021. 15" at the time. Pretty sure it was my first euphorbia of any kind.

April 2024
Now sitting at 28" tall

Apparently I’m in my white pot phase.

I love your cactus :cactus:! Looks very similar to one my Mom had before she died. I took it in. It was tall, and my dog at the time, Jake (Lab/Newfie) knocked it over a few times with his tail. It finally met it’s demise due to me over watering it I believe. I’ve learned my lesson, if you think your plant needs water, it probably doesn’t. Most of my house plants are ok with drying out before water. That’s how I keep them alive.

This is my Monstera, unfurling a new leaf. :herb:

I really like your flytrap display. Mine is struggling.

Ehhh it looks pretty but mine is struggling all the same! It’s been my first attempt at it. All that white stuff on mine is a fungal infection I’ve been fighting for nearly the whole time I’ve had it (9 months or so). I do like the moss that has grown, though.

The traps have also gone really small on the one on the right, which indicates some kind of dormancy or struggle.

All that said - yours doesn’t look to be rough and really I wouldn’t worry about it. Either way they’re fickle little shits.

I would take this with a pinch of fish flakes, but apparently use a rope from the roots into a bowl of water below to water it…cover them in a glass enclosure to maintain heat and moisture and they like lots of sunlight and humidity. The woman also fed them fish food flakes occasionally……:face_with_spiral_eyes:

The rope method is one I’ve heard of! Seen it in use at some of the big box stores that sell plants.
Having it sit in a bowl of water like I have is more or less the same approach, though.

The fish flakes, though - that’s a new one to me.
I was feeding it the odd fly that I could catch in the house, but apparently feeding them manually is not good for them - if it’s blood they need, they’ll put out the pheromones to lure in the prey lol. Anything else is overfeeding and harmful. Pity, hand-feeding it was pretty fun. Now I just let it do it’s thing.

Yeah it seemed whack to be honest….

Hi!
I have a few snake plants from baby to over 4 feet. There are several different variations, all considered snake plants, but some do grow that way, yours looks very healthy, I wouldn’t worry about him.

Here’s a baby one that grows out, their common name is Black Gold snake plant. All of your plants look healthy.

Here’s a larger one that’s probably a black gold snake too, then a tall one that grows straight. I love snake plants. :snake:

I’ve been collecting plants since I started to try and quit drinking (106 as of today). I love all the variety, I bought some books too, even though any direct questions I Google. A lot of my plants have Philodendron or Potho in the name, these are more easy care plants. They keep making hybrids, & as soon as they’re common, they are sold at normal prices.

I’ve been adding Peperomia plants to my group, they also have a ton of variety. I’m still trying to figure out what they like best. Here’s a pic of my Watermelon Peperomia.
