Nice.
But I got to wonder how you will use the front door now.
Erm. Are you still planning to use that door?
It’s a separate door that is sealed off lol ![]()
It’s an old building they’re more like feature doors now ![]()

I’m loosing this battle. CJ has approached the front lines of the backyard up to the house.
He got my sweet pepper last night and had some strawberries
Maybe if I surround them with marigolds and society garlic I can hold him back. But it’s too hot and I’m going out of town soon.
Good luck! I’ve been at war with the chipmunks for months. They’ve dug up everything on my back patio, including marigolds. I’ve tried cayenne pepper, peppermint oil, putting plastic forks in the soil, really smelly spray - nothing stops them. This week, the deer got my hosta. Between the critters and the ridiculously hot weather, things are looking pretty sad this year.
You got one hungry bugger LOL. You may need to get those cages to put around the plant
Poor
is gonna be
with all that
he had
Im rooting for my namesake. Plus it seems he has better odds lol
Sideshow Mel…
Is a Grandpa! See that baby sprout?
Yes I understand plant genetics don’t work this way, let me have my fun.
Update on my Chlorophytum comosum ![]()
,the plant is going nuts,it did have 4 babies on the go,now its got 9,it was 10 but my Mum took one of the bigger ones back to Liverpool with her last week,I think its time to buy a few little pots ![]()
Anyone have a book or resource they would recommend for learning how to grow vegetables indoors?
For context: This is my 4th year growing a vegetable garden myself. When i was a kid, I planted and tended “my father’s” garden every year from when i was old enough to handle a rototiller. I have always enjoyed eating the crops, but over the last two years it seems to have evolved from “just something i do" to an almost spiritual thing for me. I love the flow state i find myself in when I am flitting around my garden pulling weeds and tending plants, engineering watering systems, watching things grow, etc. I live in the midwest in the USA, though, and I am curious about trying to make it a yearlong endeavor. I can’t afford a greenhouse, but i hope to build one eventually.
The thought occurred to me last night after gardening that there is probably a community for it here on TS. So I searched and lo and behold, here you all are. Happy to join!
The difference a choice in top dressing makes. Finally found some good quality, small grain lava rock. On the fly thought it might look striking with my pseudolithos. Kinda wish it was even smaller grain, closer to akadama.
The plant itself has grown a bit, but I can’t expect much in 6 months from one of these. Can take a while to get going again after repotting. Eagerly awaiting it growing into a big, meaty blob with smelly flowers.
January 2026, when I got it/first potted it.
Today (July 2026)
Hey @Dazercat whats the CJ- Dazercat tally up to?!
Same tally ![]()
This here is Little CJ
You were once wounded but you are fighting back. You will survive. I’ve surrounded you with lots of support with lavender, marigolds, and mint.
Haven’t see CJ
but I am missing some strawberries.
You’re a sweet pepper.
Aww i love the new namesake lo)l
Omg so cute.
Not when he tears a chunk out of your favorite plant, he isn’t.
I look forward to the day when Waldo manages to catch him ![]()
Seriously this squirrel turns me into Joe Pesci out there…”You motherfucker, you!”
Tomorrow I am going to the hardware store and figuring out how I can build a barrier for the open doorway that I can put up/take down easily. Build a frame with chicken wire or something. No need for bloodshed that way.
It ain’t pretty, but it’s pretty damn good for an unskilled guy on the ground with a rusty old hacksaw and what is essentially a toy power drill. And it should do the trick to keep him out for good. Grateful to have peace-of-mind again, and glad I won’t have to kill an animal just trying to survive (last resort, but after yesterday, was prepared to).
Let’s see what you’ve got now, you bushy-tailed punk!
Wonderful addition T
