In fact - dessert nerd that I am - I looked this up weeks ago (because I love cheesecake - we’ve established this): a cheesecake is neither a pie nor a cake. It’s a tart!
Pastry based??? My lack of proper knowledge of English shows up here. Or that of baking. Or both. I’ll take your word for it. Does my sister’s apple pie with loads of cream comply? I hope so as it’s damned good too. And it does has the word pie in it maybe that accounts for something.
