I couldn’t have done it without her and our phone conversation helped more than I can even describe. I thank her a million times! As this milestone is the furthest I’ve ever came since drinking became a problem 4-5 years ago!!
So glad I have you all! :hugs:

Work events can be tricky. My company doesn’t know my history nor do I want them to. I was at one yesterday afternoon and the drinks were flowing. Everyone was having a great time and joining them actually crossed my mind (4+ years sober). Just like you, using my tools got me home sober though. I can promise it does get easier but we always have to be on guard. Again, really proud of you.

I am excited for when that day comes and it gets easier but it is still so fresh it was really hard and I’m glad I had everyone here to find the braveness and strength within myself. Thank you

Lys, you were your own hero last night. You showed up for yourself and reached out BEFORE you picked up and worked through it with the help of us here. That speaks volumes to the commitment and motivation you have to be sober. Day 6 is today! Stay focused on today and let tomorrow happen tomorrow.

Thank you again for being there last night. I wake up feeling proud and so glad I had everyone to talk to and I’m glad I reached out before and not after the fact I picked a drink up. This morning I am proud to say I come into the day with confidence and positivity. I will mention though I am super anxious for some reason and I have a headache already to start my day but that must be my body still working out the alcohol. :heartpulse:

Congratulations! This is a huge victory and a learning session.

In order to avoid these, i will always join these type of events by using my own car. So there is always an explanation that is not questioned by anyone. Just did this this week for the company christmas party…

I had “ghost hangovers” also, usually after a stressful day like your yesterday! @RosaCanDo is right - you are the hero of your own story, simply by asking for help. Who knew it could be so simple? Not easy, but simple.

After I wrote to you, my 4yr old took my phone… I am so glad @RosaCanDo was able to help you out!

I’m proud of you because not only did you ask for help, but you took the help offered. That’s huge!! Keep doing that and you’re gonna have an easier time with sobriety! Kudos!!

This has to be the best thread I’ve read in weeks. Congratulations @Smootie8220 , you are a legend for how you escaped that situation. I don’t think I would have been as strong so early in my sobriety.

And @RosaCanDo , you are a legend for how you assisted.
