PMO - Porn, Masturbation, Recovery

I’ll just say a disagreement between me and the wife. I came away from it feeling drained, defeated and diminished. I’ve since been making calls to my sponsor and other fellows as well. It truly does help

Wow I can relate.
My last relapse was something to do with my wife last week and it caused a lot of stress.
I’m better now but wish I didn’t act out.
I was overthinking and over reacting.

I wish I had made a call out instead.
I internalized it and got into an argument with my wife. Had I reached out, maybe I would have realized that I’m overreacting or overthinking.

I’ve been in that headspace many of times so I’m quite aware. The work of progress still continues, man. We got this

I know it. I had the feelings building up to isolate, go dark, and to just stay in the moment. I could feel it closing in on me… luckily I didnt succumb to the frustrations but I was wayyy too close

Great! :+1:

They’ve won awards for many of their chocolate varieties. The highest award won was the Golden Bean, which is the top chocolate award in the world. They won it in 2016 for this chocolate bar:

I came close to acting out a couple of days ago. I was watching a movie trailer and didn’t know where it was going before it was too late (I thought it was a drama). Husband was at work, I was home alone, sick and feeling miserable. The perfect setting. I was able to step away from the pull although my brain was in it in a snap.

Good on you for pulling away.
I was in a similar situation about 8 days ago.
Stressed at home with something to do with my wife and I and I went down it.
It was a movie and they had love scenes but the scenes were too graphic and I relapsed the next morning.

It’s never worth it!

Happy you are ok Olivia. The unknowns in media freak me out sometimes. I have a set of cartoons that I watch over and over partly because I know what is gonna happen. I will not be surprised by unexpected sexualized scenes.

I also watch a lot of National Geographic documentaries. That’s pretty much my regular media consumption: cartoons and National Geographic. Both sources that (for me) don’t have any significant sexualized content. (There are some juvenile jokes in the cartoons but somehow, it’s easier for me to ignore them in cartoon form.)

I feel nervous sometimes when making a decision about watching a new show. I don’t like the unknown factor.

I second this. I’m not afraid per se, but easily disappointed if a new show sucks  I’m such a replayer tho. I start my favourite shows from season 1 over and over again. I usually have a podcast series going, too (not while watching a show but you get the point lol).

Hubs and me have VERY different taste in movies/shows. He likes war movies about the WWs (too violent), golden oldies domestic movies (too boring) and comedy from a certain era (too much 2nd hand embarrassment). So we don’t watch things together which gives me great freedom AND responsibility in choosing what I consume. He calls my favourites “ladies stuff”, although I don’t even watch chick flicks LOL, or isn’t amused by the humour. I don’t tell this to diss him but just painting a picture.

We only have a cd player in our car so we just pop headphones on and listen to stuff separately on long drives  :sunglasses:

Been there before. That is the perfect concoction of a situation for acting out. I’m glad you were able to get out of that headspace.

I do this all. the. time. Thank goodness. I don’t feel so alone :joy:

Some shows I’ve watched repeatedly:

  • Star Trek (I like the premise, and I like how for the great majority of series and episodes in Star Trek, bodies and experiences are not sexualized)
  • juvenile American cartoon shows, including Brickleberry, Paradise PD, and American Dad (mainly with these ones I am watching some of my favourite episodes; I go off and on with these)

Some favourite audio materials:

  • “The Great Courses” (hundreds of courses delivered by brilliant teachers on all kinds of topics; personal favourites of mine are history courses, psychology courses, and (at the moment) I am big into religious and pagan history as well (fascinating to see how they’ve shaped cultures over the centuries))

Favourite video materials:

  • National Geographic (I love the documentaries - I just finished a documentary about Ernest Shackleton, and I am in the middle of a worldwide cooking show hosted by Gordon Ramsey, where he travels to many different countries worldwide to learn to cook their foods)

What are you watching?
