I started this journey 20 days ago because I knew i had a Pre-employment drug test. Dont get me wrong im feeling muc better now and wish to continue even after the test. The test is tomorrow and I just went and got a drug test from the drug store. Well after 20 days it is still showing im pos for thc. I wasn’t actually smoking weed but rather those delta 8 pens that are legal nationwide. Either way im freaking out right now because i really need this job. Sigh idk I guess best I can hope for is that they don’t care about that and are looking for the hard stuff.

Yes it’s one of many forms of thc legal nationwide. The pens i wa getting from the tobacco shop had 3-5 different forms of delta thc in it. Regular weed has deta 9 thc.

I’ve been in my job now for going on 14 years. At the end of the interview process, they made me the offer contingent on passing a background check. I told them on the spot that they were going to find DUI’s on there, including a felony DUI, and that I had been sober 5 years. My boss told me later that my honesty got me the job. He also said he never wanted to hear about it again. I did not mention my alcoholism or sobriety to him after that. He’s retired now and after that I did offer, to our CEO at one point to talk with a salesperson who had got arrested for DUI and got their name in the local paper.

Honesty is your friend on these cases. Not oversharing, just a recognition that it might come out hot from legal pot.

Yeah either way we’ll see how things turn out. Worse comes to worse i look for some other job to make money at.

All you can do at this point is let it play out. If it’s meant to be, you’ll get the job no matter what the test results reveal. If it’s not meant to be, something better will come along. Either way, you have motivation to continue on your sober journey and your future is looking bright.

Yeah exactly what I’m trying to tell myself. Don’t have a job at the moment but trying to find something that pays well enough to move out of my parents house. Got fired from my last job but it was just a shitty restaurant job.

One in trying to get is a call center job making like 17-18/hr

Wishing you the best of outcomes Nick! As mentioned above, whether you get it or not, you are smashing your sobriety which is a big win! In Australia, I’ve never heard of drug tests for a call centre job. Is that common where you live?
It’s common for anything that isn’t a completely minimum wage job. I mean this is my first time going for a call center job so I’m not completely sure.

Interesting. So, with legal THC available, what, if any, allowances are there regarding tests? Like your example where you’re still testing positive, despite being sober for 20 days. How do they know if it was a one off use?
Well i mean all they will know is That there are thc metabolites in my urine.I actually live in a state where weed is illegal but because of the hemp act from some years back there are these i believe hemp derived Canabanoids that i believe are legal in all 50 states and have the exact same effects as weed. it can’t even differentiate between whether I smoked illegal weed or did the stuff that is hemp derived and legal.

That sounds very black and white, despite the grey areas. I remember drinking copious amounts of water in the month leading to a drug test (My doc then was weed). I drank to the point where my urine looked like water. Every time I went toilet, which was a lot, I immediately drank more water. Not promoting this as a safe or sure way to pass the test, but to my big surprise, I passed- then failed the physical! You win some, you lose some. Hopefully, you come out with a win!
Lol have been doing that the whole 20 days only when it gets like water eating something salty so I can keep drinking the water. Also had a space heater iv been sitting in front of to help produce sweat to get some of it out that way plus be able to drink more water. Ive been drinking so much water i can feel my muscles swelling lol. Also even if I do end up chugging water in the morning they will be able to tell that you did that because one the color and two i have read on the labs actual website that they check the specific gravity and creatine content which you guessed it ive been taking a creatine supplement plus some other supplements to both increase how much water i can safely drink and flush my system out. Lol I have done so much to try to flush it out
