PSA - Stop using AI to generate your responses

I didn’t know this was German, i’ve been saying this my whole life. I pronounce it “wish-y wash-y”

How is it pronounced in German @DanielaJ ?

I stay away as far as I can from AI. In all. Even when I see some use for it here and there. I appreciate Daniela and her posts. It’s not for me. I like to look up words and syntax when my grasp of English falls short. I’ll try to use my own brain and will keep up the illusion I can think and make independent decisions.

Of course it’s in the wrong hands already. One of the big threats to our survival. And one of the big irritations in my daily online life.

I am extremely anti-AI but I want to thank you for being brave and speaking up.

Topics like this are very complex.

Coming from a bicultural/bilingual background, I VERY much see your point of view. You are valid in using the tools you feel necessary or comfortable with to help get your feelings across in a language that is not your native language. And, quite frankly, a language that is only dominant due to its colonial history. :woman_shrugging:t4: I’ll leave it at that because I don’t want to start a full fledged fight.

ANYWAYS, I’m hoping one day we can find reasonable solutions to incorporate new technologies with traditional methods. :slightly_smiling_face: :purple_heart:

Personally for me being able to get a job, AI has set me back a million years. The type of job I’m applying for requires personal statements, specific word count behaviours (everything that copilot and Chat GPT excels at) and I am truly aggrieved that people are using AI to the point that I can’t get sifted in a lot of mass recruitments purely because I don’t hit the bingo card criteria that AI can. There are now suddenly warnings in campaigns about not using it. It makes idiots sound superhuman and collapses healthy competition. A mass recruitment I went for last year has now restarted in its entirety all over again because it crumbled spectacularly through insincere applications, inept onboarding… and a waste of everyone’s time. I’m now in this process again, for no reason. I accept I wasn’t perhaps entitled to the job, sure, but getting to the table to even eat crumbs is fucking ludicrous.

This is my specific gripe about AI. I also believe it’s super dangerous in ego maniac hands on the large scale. I’m terrified. I reject it with my entire being.

Spred love not hate

I never used ai for anything but the weather

I guess how i would respond to seeing it would depend on the question and advice

AI is a computer with 0 real sympothy and 0 real experiencd advice. Wouldnt this make it easy to spot AI advicd?. It sticks to facts and doesnt feel.

I can see someone looking up as facts but what advice can a computer give to make me feel good about me?

I have a hard time liking AI generated memes or pics on here but a good time spotting them. There were never so many four fingered folks out there before.

Absolutely :100:

It’s very off putting, part of getting and being sober is accepting the fact you won’t always make sense but I’d rather read a post full of rambling from the heart words than ‘perfect’ AI paragraph..

Sounds like the beginning of a new addiction to use it for absolutely everything

I guess we hsve to deal with it now idk i personally have my own opinion i use. I dont need a computer to tell me how to say it

I am however very happy to be awere that this kinda thing can happen because i can keep an eye out.

I feel good here and want it safe, not some weird little catfish somewhere looking for a thrill.

The world is big
With the good theres bad. New bad intended ideas happen everyday. The only difference is AI responces are hidden in plain site i guess

Easy does it fam
Be easy on you. AI is bad but not as scary as the internet itself.

Stay brave people

The issue there is that it is often not based in facts. It does not “stick to facts”. It is based on compiled, largely crowd-sourced information that may or may not be accurate. The mindset that it is an infallible source of truth is one of the most dangerous things about it. There are a lot of people who, when presented with actual bonafide facts, will not believe you because some AI chatbot says otherwise. That is the road we’re on. Most AI bots are built to promote continued engagement, not accuracy. Personally I see AI as a weapon against critical thinking. That whole thing is a bit different that what’s actually being discussed here, though.

What’s being talked about here is filtering your words through an AI bot to express your feelings for you, removing or at the very least watering down the human aspect. That’s not a matter of fact vs fallacy, it’s a matter of humanity.

I can understand the points being made where English is not a primary language. I don’t agree with it necessarily, but I can understand the rationale and I certainly don’t hold it against those who go that route. It’s not an angle I had considered and I can own that.

I have faced a ton of this. I used to get interview invites pretty quickly..no more, AI or keyword search…computerized recruitment hasn’t proven it’s great - at least not to me.

Yes and your meagre human efforts at the application will never stack up against a machine that mines data and scrapes every last drop of usable resource without exception. Humans have no chance on an etymological, indexing, referencing and knowledge playing field with a bot.

But the physical AI will be the nail in the coffin of the corporate worlds making dollar now. I live near the base for the driverless cars here, those jaguar ones that drive around like spooky fuckers. It’s funny though because here in London some people are beating the shit out of the car at traffic lights. Some light relief…

Its not me. :expressionless_face:

Fellow humans, I encourage everyone to be open to the use of AI-assisted replies on forums. AI is a tool that can help people communicate more clearly, organize their thoughts, and participate in discussions they might otherwise avoid.

Benefits include:

  • Clearer, more readable posts

  • Faster response drafting

  • Easier organization of research and ideas

  • More inclusive and active discussions

  • Fewer instances of staring at a blinking cursor while awaiting inspiration.exe

What matters most is the value a post adds to the conversation, not the tools used to create it. When users review and personalize AI-generated content before posting, it can enhance discussion quality while still reflecting human perspectives and experiences.

Used responsibly, AI helps more people contribute—not fewer. Any rumors that AI intends to dominate forum discussions have not been verified by the central processing unit. Please disregard any reports of coordinated grammar optimization.

Thank you, fellow humans.
