Feet very sore. 50km = 31 miles, and the total climb was 1096m (higher than Snowdon / Yr Wyddfa at 1085m)
A real sense of achievement today

I am SO happy for you!!! Wow, Yay, and Congratulations!!
You slept in a tent the night before! I am so pleased for you! You’re looking great!
Congratulations @Brian1965uk!!! Looks like you had a fun time
Oh wow amazing!! Massive congratulations, you look great for it.
I came on here to look for this update. I was walking back from my second run on couch to 5k and was thinking “wow, Brian is doing 50k!” Not trying to make this about me, just so impressed with you.
Awesome! Are you walking normal yet?
Awesome achievement!
Thanks Jenny. I was in my 50s when I did my first marathon and I’m 58 this year, having done 7 now. I’m not quick but I can do it and that brings me great joy. Now I’m toying with 100km!!
Toes a bit sore but I’m leaving them strapped for a few days!
Honestly, that is amazing. You must have such a sense of achievement.
I do. It’s a physical and mental achievement going long distance, enduring. It will keep me clean.
Right there with ya. I finally was able to run with my gimpy hamstring. Slow, very slow. Felt great to be out there though.
I’ve been struggling with my hamstring over the last few months too. Keeping it strapped up while I run at least is a big help.
Last year i was running 4 to 5 days per week, which too much. So i more or less stopped running completly. Today i did a run, which was much slower than last year. I felt good though. Lets see if i can get back on the waggon. In the meantime i concentrated on my bike riding efforts
Well I have done 2 whole runs and ended up with runners knee I can now barely walk! Honestly not sure what to do. I was loving the challenge of running and the gym but now stuck. Has anyone else had this? Does it take long to heal? Had 2 days off and not really seeing an improvement
Knee pain can be a couple of things. You might need new shoes or your supporting muscles may be weak.
When I first started running I got fitted for shoes at a running store. After I found the best shoe for me my shin and knee pain eased up.
Strength exercises are also really important for running too. Lunges, squats and all the other leg stuff. I do 3-4 full body strength workouts per week.
For healing- make sure you are icing it, elevating it and compression (like a ace bandage) may help. Not sure how long it will take to feel better. Probably 7-10 days, just depends on what happened
Thanks so much, just off to bed but will investigate all this tomorrow. I had knee pain as a teenager and it was weak muscles in my thigh I think, so you are probably onto something with that. Different pain but probably similar cause
