Runners in 2023 - 5K/10K/13.1/26.2/Ultra

My first ultra is on Sunday. In the Peak District. So it’ll be up and down. I will be going slow and walking a lot. A new challenge will be faced carefully.

will it take you 13 hours to complete?!? I don’t think I could ever stay moving that long

I was hoping to find a forum like this. I’m getting back into seriously running for the first time in a long time. Some health setbacks (both addiction related and not) made me think I could never do it again but I’m committing to an ultra in October.

How far are your long runs right now?

I’m just getting warm with some 5-10k’s right now. Building into it slowly. The race is 50k

I reckon the pace will depend on the weather but it’s looking like it’ll be cool and dry with cloud. Perfect really. I’ve never done an ultra so my time is really an unknown. I’ll let you know how I go!!

I like your attention to the stats! It’s a good motivator for me, I guess you too. :slightly_smiling_face:

In the UK I buy this. But I’m guessing in the online shopping era you can get it everywhere. May even be made in the States for all I know. Anyway, it’s saved my life a few times! Anywhere you get rubbing from skin or straps etc. Brilliant.

I have NEVER pulled off so many miles with the same time!! I felt strong pretty much the entire time. I took a walking gel and water break in mile 4 and then picked it back up :running_woman:t2::confetti_ball:

I race as well. (Since 2009) Need to find a post race celebration that doesn’t include a pint of stout.

Nice!

Question: Why do the bars in the analysis up top not match the times listed on the bottom?

I wasn’t sure so I went to it lol From what I see it’s just a breakdown of the mile time. I have no idea where strava decides to put the line though. I’m sure it has something to do with avg mile or something like that
I just noticed that doesn’t match the times that are on the miles…… :thinking:I wonder if that is the true mile time. I had to stop for traffic in a few places and strava takes that out of the run time

Hmm, interesting. I’ve noticed it does some sort of adjustment when I stop at a red light. But, for me, they always match, which makes me wonder, why even skow both charts if its the same thing? For instance:

Also, I’m not trying to be critical, just trying to learn something! :slightly_smiling_face:

Same here! I don’t understand the difference. The mile time is always different than my garmin too so :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Tent set up in Bakewell and I’m ready for the 50km / 31 mile ultra challenge tomorrow!!
