I know :joy: My body was feeling it this morning I guess. You know mile 2 always trips me up but I just focused on my breathing and kept repeating I am strong, I am powerful in my head. I stole that from somewhere :woman_shrugging:t2: It works!!

Well now you inspired me. I was laying here thinking of excuses. I have an 8-miler today. Last ‘longer’ run before the Half on Saturday.

Sidenote… I was feeling depressed lately because I seem to do everything in solitude. So, I forced myself to go to a concert on Friday. I was really upset as I looked around and saw everyone dancing and screaming and acting wild (basically just having fun, I was resentful probably). I stopped in the bar at the venue afterward and saw all my friends hardly able to walk, or talk and droppng tons of money on drinks and gambling. Drinks being spilled, falling on the pool table, repeating themselves, looking and smelling horrible, stuffing their faces with food, etc., etc. All things I would have been right in the middle of before (I’m sure I would have been leading the charge to keep the party going at home actually). My feelings did a 180 as I left. I drove home thinking how lucky I am to be able to go on a run the next morning and be alone with my thoughts. My poor buddies are still probably struggling today, especially after no doubt tying off another one yesterday to deal with the hangover. Is it bad I snicker to myself knowing their plight won’t be over until mid-week only to start again next weekend?

Well that got long, anyway, my point (besides venting a bit)… Thank you Running!

Anyone have any earbuds for running you would highly recommend? Staying in place is the highest priority. Good sound is nice, but I mostly listen to podcasts - music occasionally.

I use these and love them! They have a great battery life, stay in place and I am able to hear cars or other people.

Not terrible. I ran fasted this morning and was getting really sluggish in mile 8 and 9. My next long run I will eat something small to see the difference

Do you ever bring anything with to eat? When I do runs longer than 13 miles, I’ll bring some something to drink and some food, usually a homemade granola concoction or just peanuts or almonds. But, I like your idea… try something small and see how it goes!

I do bring snacks. Typically I have apple sauce pouches, cliff clocks and a GU gel or two. I don’t use them all. Today I had an apple sauce around mile 4 then a cliff block around mile 6-7 (I don’t chew them at first, I suck on them for a while before chewing them up) and then another apple sauce in mile 8. And for sure on the water. I never know what the sun is going to do so anything over 4 miles I take my water pack.

Haha, I figured you had that all squared away! I still struggle with what and when to eat. You sound like me… can’t just be satisfied with a good run, everything needs to be perfect!

Trail run in the heat today. About 6 miles then I’m gonna jump in the lake at then end of it. Last run before the half on Saturday!

Hey, I was satisfied with my Sunday run where I hit that PR :joy:
Trail runs are my nemesis and add heat :face_vomiting: The lake part sounds great though!
I’m excited for your half on Saturday. You are gonna do great!!

Sounds like a blast!! They offer trips all over the world. Definitely something going on my bucket list, it’s pricey…

Awesome! I know, I wanna do one of those. A few years ago I found one in Ireland that was like a week long. It looked really, really cool.

I did a City Running Tour in Seattle one time. It was most excellent!

I only run for shorter distances (for now) and I need to do it fasted myself so I try to do it in the mornings. Hubby absolutely needs to eat something no matter what or he will run out of steam. Ive thought about trying to eat something agsin before my jogs since like you I think it could help but Im hesitant.

I eat something about 45 mins before. Maybe a banana, some dates or something else that’ll give me a boost. I also carry jelly babies with me in case I sugar crash and feel exhausted.

I’m not diabetic but I do get fluctuating glucose levels that I watch. Even if I didn’t, an energy boost before running always helps my performance.

Just started doing strength exercises on my still sore hamstring. Maybe try a gentle run in a week. I won’t rush it.
