Running in Recovery in 2024-2026

This was going really well and then i gave in to the walk break mindset. A lady picked me up and said come on so we paced together and finished the last part of the race. It was so fun and everyone was supporting each other. Just a good race.

Now this is how I like my 5ks to go. Solid effort, no walk breaks and negative splits  Niw to get ready for my first long bike ride

@Gorden where you been? Are you missing?

Hey! Yeah, I’m still around. Just battling life lately… you know how it goes. I did get a 10-miler in with a friend on Friday. That was the first long one in awhile, it was nice. Saturday I’m doing a half in Aberdeen, SD. If it’s nice I will drive my motorcycle, so I’m excited about all that.

I did get a bit of inspiration thinking about and planning some getaways/races in the next few months. I really need to get focused again… I’m much more content in life when the miles go up!

Thanks for checking. Looks like you’re making some running friends and doing great.

Happy Running!

A not terrible run. It was a tempo and dang I definitely had to work for it. I feel like I’ve been slacking on running lately

I’ve got A LOT to learn, my brother is bribing me with a trip to Hawaii, for a half marathon run. I literally have not ran since PE in junior high :joy:. What am I getting myself into?

Turns out there is more to long distance running than just…running. Who knew? I sure didn’t. And I’m definitely going about the training all wrong.

Turns out I gotta chill out. According to my research I should be mostly in zone 1 and 2 for the majority of my runs. I’ve been in zone 4 :scream:.

Thoughts?

I run on feeling. I have tried the zone training but one day it was so hot and I went for a walk- I was in zone 3 and that was just walking. Most days when I run I am in zone 3 or 4. Some people really swear by zone training. It just didn’t work out for me. I just use the Nike run club app for guided training runs.
I’ve seen the Hawaii marathon and I’ve thought about it. It suppose to be a great course that runs by the ocean. I hope you go!! A vacation and a race all in one lol

Welp, it’s official  My first endurance race. I have been on the fence about signing up but I decided to just jump! What’s the worst that could happen :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

It’s 4 hours of running a 2 mile trail. I plan to set my jeep up as my aid station if they don’t have one. I want to start out doing 2 loops without stopping at the beginning and then keep that going for as long as possible.

You are badass my friend. Be safe. Dont overtrain.

It’s in November so I have some months to prepare. We have a 2.3 mile trail I run regularly so I plan to do some mock runs on that. There is a parking lot to set up my jeep and everything. I think the hardest part will be boredom of running the same loop multiple times lol

That race sounds like mental torture but youve been doing the prep lol

Not sure how/why the pace is all over. I didn’t change the treadmill speed. I really just felt settled in today, pretty “easy” run :woman_running:t2:

The consistency on this run is just :ok_hand::fire: I have one more week in the training plan I’m working and then I’ll probably just go back to running how I feel. I really want to PR my 10k but in order for that to happen I need to cut all these miles down by at least 30 seconds so not sure if I’ll get it next week but I’ll keep trying if I don’t.

Felt good about my effort this morning

Still need to work on consistency. I had a wide range so i can get a good execution rate on my garmin lol. Will buckle down in time

I love that this thread inspired me to start running. Now im talking shop with my cousins about our running passion

Mwahahahaha! Super proud of myself! I know it ain’t nothing to write home about (unless you’ve been a lifelong underachiever like myself :joy:) but I’ve ran more in the 10 days of my sobriety than I have in my entire life! This run perked me right up! I don’t feel drained like after my beginning runs (also could because I’m now focusing on eating nourishing foods and treating anemia ) slowing down really helped.

I almost did a 5k, but my dumb ass just thought it was 3 miles- BUT learned is 3.1 :woman_facepalming:. But I now know I can definitely do it! I could have kept going but the skeeters were looking at me like I was a juicy ribeye.

Nice job  Looks like you will be ready for that half marathon in no time if you keep it up!

Great job. Keep us posted along your journey

@Runningfree inspired me to post more😃

Half marathon this morning in Aberdeen, SD. I drove my motorcycle down there last night. My time wasn’t good but it was one of those brutally hot, muggy days we get in the eastern Dakotas. So, the goal was to survive! I did that, but I fell around mile 11. I’m OK, lol.

A post race pic. It was so humid, my phone couldn’t quite focus😆

Another sunday 5K :white_check_mark::white_check_mark: It rained last night so it was crazy humid this morning and I did this before the sun was up. I feel like such a weirdo but I really enjoy running early in the morning in the dark
