New plan has started  My main focus was breathing and that’s a full time job!! I was trying to inhale through my nose and exhale through my mouth. It’s really difficult for me but work in progress :sign_of_the_horns:

Taking those days off from running was sooooo good for my body!! I hate fartleks, they are so hard for me but this felt doable. Super proud of myself for getting through the entire workout without giving in to a walk break :partying_face:

Me again :waving_hand: Did my long run today so I can rest my legs. I was able to do the progressive part which is normally so hard for me on long run.:partying_face: Feeling pretty proud of myself today

I’m going to do my easy runs this weekend in Cloudcroft so I can get a little practice before my race next month. I’ve done the distance (and the race) but I’d like to do better this year

I have been battling shin splints since the start of June. Despite that, I am having some of best runs in a few years this summer. However, I can’t just seem to stay healthy enough to do longer runs. Any advice on shin splints, assuming that I can’t just seem to take a couple weeks off?

The hubs got some of these and they are really nice for after run recovery.

I’ve only dealt with shin splints once and it was when I was trying brooks shoes. I switched shoes and took a few days off of running. I haven’t had issues since.

I know there are some PT/ rehab stuff on youtube to help deal with the issue. Stretching and strengthening are going to be your friend to get past the issue.

No walk breaks today :partying_face: I’m really trying to work the training plan as it’s set up. Walk breaks only when it’s in the workout. I dropped a gel out of my pocket when getting my phone to take a picture of the sunrise which is the little line around 1 mile.

Definitely I’m not running as often as I would like to. Now that kids don’t have school it’s going to be even more difficult :frowning:

5K Sunday :white_check_mark: Runna wanted 13:30 pace and I really tried in mile 1 but then things got faster :woman_shrugging:t2: The thing is Runna thinks 1330 is “easy” pace for me which it could be but it’s really hard for me to run that slow and not take walk breaks.

Todays chatgpt plan was a 7mi long run. I may do a 10k race aug 2nd. I made it about 6.4 and lost my mojo and took 2 walk breaks but finished strong. Chatgpt gave me an a-

Really struggled today with the heat. There were walk breaks tossed in when they weren’t suppose to be  At least I hit some of the interval paces. There’s always another run and that one will be better :sign_of_the_horns:

The heat is taking me out  I literally said the other day that I want to do the easy runs without walking and then today I gave in to walk breaks. It’s definitely a mental problem, like I don’t believe in myself

I can relate

I went into this with low expectations. I knew walk breaks would happen. I knew my legs would get heavy and I knew I would get hot. I put a bag of ice in the back pocket of my hydration vest and that was very nice for the first few miles before it melted. It was almost 80F before the sun even came up

My first ever evening run. It was great! I loved that it got cooler as I got tired, rather than hotter. I only ran into a pole once! I don’t feel safe listening to music while running in the dark, so I got to enjoy my own heavy breathing! I don’t know why I have been so resistant to it.

Some interval stuff today. This felt strong :flexed_biceps:

No music for me in the dark either @Misokatsu Sometimes I think it helps me be more in tune with my breathing but I know I could never do super long runs without something in my ears
