I definitely find crocheting easier than knitting but it could just be a preference. I know many people who think the opposite and are more comfortable with knitting needles. Anywho, I do recommend it!

I need to look for new hobbies also… Used to like sailing, kickboxing & crossfit (but have way too many injuries from work now)… I tried sewing when I was laid up with one of my knee surgeries, I’m not a fan. I made some reusable “paper towels & napkins” (cloth :joy:). Have to finish the other sets i got fabric for. Maybe I’d make more progress now I’m not drinking or recovering from a surgery

Thank you for some cool ideas

Painting is a new one that really helped me keep myself occupied and helped fill the void of time i spent drinking or hanging out with friends who drink.

Since then I have bought a really nice camera with money I saved on booze.
Its an old hobbly, but alcohol put it out of reach because it was more important to be loaded. Thats been really good for me. I run to my camera instead of booze when Im stressed, angry, or have anxiety.

I’ve been filming fishing trips and making videos. Thats something I always talked about doing as a drunk.

All talk, no action.

Im getting really close to officially launching my youtube channel. Ive been collecting more equipment, and experimenting filming. Ive got some amazing footage.

Last crab season I bought the camera. This crab season I’m buying scuba gear, spear guns. Diving is something I talked about too. Gonna make it happen next year!

Surfing too!

Heyyyy everyone,

I was just curious as to what some of your sober hobbies are? I’m in need to picking up a few of my own and could use some suggestions.

It’s music. I make music as a hobby.

walking, running, basketball, soccer, reading, journaling, home improvements, getting organized, working on relationships and connecting with yourself, people and fur babies. When I first stopped drinking I had so much energy I discovered a lot of new activities but I was also keen on organising my life to dim my anxiety.

I make youtube videos about metal detecting, magnet fishing, and river clean ups. My channel is called “the wandering fools” check it out in your down time. Ive also written a few full length novels. Ones published now on amazon and the next one should be out soon. The title is “Three Drunks and Zombies” great story but might be a trigger for some. I plan on working on a new project as soon as i get my next 1 finished. Writing helps clear the mind for me. Maybe I’ll get back to writing and replace my nasty habit.

I like to draw, watch horror movies and make/listen to music
