Super excited for this little simple piece that will be going on my sternum this Friday! Hubby will be tattooing this symbol on me and I’m super excited! Oddly enough… even tho tattoos are free to me, I don’t often get tattoos lol We are just too busy.
Anyway, I am getting my own drawing done of a personalized unalome tattoo.

  • Beginning at the bottom with the dots (birth)
  • Going up into the swirl (beginning of my chaos as a youth) with the mental health symbol incorporated bcuz that is truly what started everything
  • Then to the 5 loops representing my 5 biggest trials in life… mental health, addiction, sex work, domestic violence, trauma (each of these have a dot/period inside of them representing completion of that trial in my life)
  • Then it goes up into the hearts and infinity symbol which represents self love and also meeting my soul mate
  • Up into the cross (representing my faith in God)
  • Finally hitting the 3 dots of reaching my goals, freedom, and enlightenment

My arm, not that easy to take in picture, but some parts of it

I dit it 12 years ago, it’s mostly dotwork
The meaning ? Oh well. I’ve always been fascinated by simple geometrical patterns, that you can find in every cultures and civilizations since the dawn of mankind. And yes I love spirals. And cubes (Borg attack) :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Fun fact, I was at my grand father’s house a few years ago (he was my adult figure and made me love nature), now that he’s long gone the house belongs to my aunt (yes my life is fascinating i know), and I looked at the (very old) floor, it was all black and grey 3D cubes. I was like…ok now I know where that fascination came from.
I consider it as an impossible landscape from another world :joy:

That’s a great tattoo. Geometrical patterns really appeal to me too - I find them soothing, the way they have pattern and order and flow to them. :triangular_ruler: :black_square_button: :black_circle:

Big Star Trek fan here too! :stars:  Currently watching Picard, where the Borg are a big player :sunglasses:

Another death date added. If i could think of a worthy theme I’d sleeve this arm out but for now it’s just dates.
