First knee cap I got done a couple years back, the smile now part of a “smile now, cry later” duo. Quite painful, I’d say a 8/10 pain scale, not looking forward to the other side to be completely honest

This image was a popular visual guide for physicians to treat ailments and was used in printed books from the 15th-17th centuries. The “Wound Man” is meant to evoke sympathy from the viewer, standing defiantly despite his injuries.
This version is from Hans von Gersdorff’s Feldtbuch der Wundartzney (Strasburg, 1519)
9 total hours to complete, 7/10 pain scale.
The tattoo artist who did this work a few years back, a good friend from high school, died last year. It’s good to have a reminder of him while he was happy and healthy, and of the dangers of drinking.
