That is so beautiful, love that it is in red!

Good to meet a fellow fantasy nerd and tattoo enthousiast!!

Got any more book inspired tattoos? I don’t have any more book tattoos but I have other tattoos.

I’ve got so much black ink that red felt like the right choice!

Same! Always happy to chat about fantasy/scifi books, shows or films

I’ve got 3 from Dune, one directly from the book and the other two are the Atreides and Harkonnen symbols from Villeneuve’s adaptation! I’m always interested in hearing about or seeing other people’s work!

I need a new tattoo

Next mission is to tattoo my head

One half a hammerhead shark and the other half will be a traditional maori style Taniwha

Ta-knee-fa

It is a symbolic for ease of explanation water dragon of Maori lore. It is said one protects our river than runs through our land.

I definitely agree about the therapy-esque quality that getting a tattoo can give off!

I’ve been a Berserk fan for years, I always appreciate seeing the brand of sacrifice in tattoo form! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::call_me_hand: also, very cool that you’ve got your daughters artwork on you, that’s gotta feel good!

Here’s my thoughts now that I have gotten some tattoos.

Yes it feels the same as SH. It’s calming. It floods me with endorphins. It makes me want more.

But it’s beautiful. It’s not something to hide or be ashamed of. It’s something that I can show others and feel proud of.

I just wish I wasn’t such a screwed up person. Cuz I always want to talk during my appointments, but I’m always worried I’ll make it weird and they won’t want me to come back.

My tattoos definitely paint a picture, so they know I’m at least a little messed up

Medusa, Phoenix, a broken chain and lock around my ankle, a flower covering scars, the words stand up, fight back, a blue awareness ribbon, a semicolon….

Obviously I’m not mentally ā€œwellā€

And I did reset my counter for sh, but not because of my getting tattoos… so

Love this!

And I get the color thing. All my tattoos are black except one, which is neon pink (my only joke tattoo). But after 20 years it is almost gone because it faded so much.

Im sorry to hear you had to reset your sh timer. Time to get back to basics and get thru cravings love

@Scorpn I’m not familiar with the feeling of sh so I can’t say I know the similarities or differences, but I do agree that it is beautiful!

Something that might help is to think about how ā€œscrewed upā€ the tattoo artist is as well, most tattoo artists I know have a lot of tattoos, a lot of them questionable and some downright surprising. I’m sure they have their own baggage, I wouldn’t be too worried about talking about yours.

Another thing, an artist that judges you so harshly about you talking about your honest self while getting tattooed that they choose not to do business with you again maybe isn’t the tattoo artist you want in your life to begin with. No need to deal with people like that, even for good ink. Find a tattoo artist you feel comfortable being ā€œweirdā€ around! :face_holding_back_tears:

Sounds like a lot of beautiful imagery and symbolism to me! Reclaiming your body image and expression of identity/self are powerful :people_hugging::flexed_biceps:

Sorry to hear you had to reset your sh timer, but I am glad you are almost back to a week without, and that you being open and honest. I believe talking about our struggles and issues can lessen their power over us!

Same! It was my first ouroboros as well, which is a symbol I plan on getting at least one more of!

I love me a joke tattoo! And a pink one at that, I’m definitely curious now!

I always said that I am allowed one joke tattoo. So I don’t have any pictures of the pink one because it’s on my hip but it’s a neon pink Bambi. In a dark and long gone past I used to DJ under that name and the pink Bambi was my logo.

Hell yeah! The black swordsman is eternal. My daughter draws some amazing stuff, really hope she gets into it… I got her a starter pen and ink, material to practice on and stuff. She could make a nice living, on her own schedule, doing what she has always loved… snd I could get some sweet ink too

Love to hear you’re supporting her! Sounds like a win-win situation! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::call_me_hand:

That’s so cool! Would you ever get another joke tattoo now that one is so faded??

Yeah I think so. I wanted to get a Nopon tattoo, from the Xenoblade games. But it will not match any of my other tattoos so I don’t know about the placement.

I’m not familiar with those games, but I looked it up! Those are some cute creatures! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Those games got me through some dark times. I never thought I would enjoy j-rpgs (I was more a Diablo 3 girl) but the storytelling in the games is amazing.
