Show the artist within you (Part 2)

Ohhh no I understand! I thought the top one was acrylic :winking_face_with_tongue: and I was thinking.. that’s blended! Now I see your post was 2 photos.. ugh silly me. Your oil painting is very blendy blendy and reminds me of Chinese landscape paintings

Hypothetically yes, 100% pointillism. But, I don’t know how well the curves of the umbrella will hold up, so I might make the umbrella solid, the “rain” and “rainbow” will definitely be dots though!

It’s just a canvas, wood would have been pretty nice! As of right now I’m planning on Sharpie Creative Markers, but after looking at those Posca markers I may purchase some of those to see how they compare!

Posca markers are great!!! You can also activate them with rubbing alcohol and blend them interestingly. I’ve used Poscas on murals and they just are perfect for drawings under final painting. The alcohol acts like water. Super versatile.

I definitely did not know that you could blend the using rubbing alcohol! Thanks for the tip!

My one question is if I press too hard will a bunch of paint come flowing out?? That’s my big hesitation and why I like the Sharpie Creative Markers so much, I love the amount of control I have with how much ink is dispensed!

Yes it will, but it’s a hard press.. just shake and press on a separate piece of scrap paper before using and practice.. I figured out the alcohol by accident! I was using Posca on a mural and was sealing with clear, what I was doing and it reactivate it but honestly it was a mural of an old map and the black looked cool faded out. It’s subtle effect. We used to fill in the letters too. They make all sorts of styles of tips. This was our first mural using them.

Ok good to know I should practice  I’m thinking the 5M tip would be best for what I’m trying to accomplish!

From what I can see that mural looks amazing! I love the old parchment feel and classical map appearance!

Thank you! It is located in the Beiser world of Wonders at Boonshoft Museum! It was so fun to design and paint! Will post full pic. This was finished before all the accoutrements were added. It was in a new exhibition room for the museum.

Water soluble oils on canvas. This has been through several iterations. Getting really textured now.

Decided to give pencil a go instead of ballpoint. This took much less time but I think I still prefer pen

My latest miniatures project: a little kitchen. I’m restyling this one in my own colours off plan where I can as the standard kit colours were a tad lame-o.

I have a long way to go…

Thanks a lot! I too am a lover of space, it’s hard to not use space/stars as a background for pretty much any landscape

Pastel, chalk, charcoal on black paper.

What’s fun is having set up a drawing workshop with my youngest daughter on Saturday mornings. :slightly_smiling_face:
