This is my first post so I hope the category of motivation is ok because that’s how this story made me feel. Although it is far from me, a friend iend posted about a “Sober Bar” in Columbus Ohio and the idea sounds pretty cool and a nice way to support those trying to stay sober or cut back in general. Links aren’t approved, but if you Google Childhood friends set to open Columbus’ first sober Bar, or The Dry Mill Columbus it’ll probably pop up. I dig the idea and would love to visit sometime.
Sounds cool! Paige posted about one the other day:
In Littleton, Colorado we have The Sober Underground which is basically a dry bar. We have pool tables, foosball, darts, DJs, dance floor, food and sodas.
It’s fun. We have raffle tix for purchase to win awesome prizes. Sometimes there is karaoke.
I was leary of it in the beginning because I had spent a lot of time in bars and drinking which would lead to drugging, etc.
However… I love love love it. I have had so much fun there. After getting through my initial uncomfortableness I have found this Sober Underground VERY fun.
I haven’t laughed like this in a while. Dancing, acting silly with others on the dance floor. Watching pool sharks, having fun… I am grateful for this place.
It’s a good place to meet people and enjoy life without drugs or alcohol.
There is another sober bar downtown Denver and they serve Mocktails. And this place, I e heard has both sober and drinkers in the establishment so I’m not too keen on hanging out there quite yet.
It all just depends on how much the owner is willing to protect our sobriety and not allow drunks or drugs within their establishment.
I certainly enjoy it. Lol!
Thanks
Alison
Love this idea…
Good idea, I’m surprised there isn’t a lot more of them around the world.
I wish there was something like that near me! Super cool idea.
I’ll run the one in Wisconsin!
I’ll help with the fundraising and PR! Count me in…
I think it’s a great idea, I mean the thought Is Ana if you can still have the bar room type get together with out the temptation to drink,
Shoot darts with your fiends, hang out playing pool watching the big game, still socialize without the booze,
I think it hasn’t grown in popularity cause it gets looked at like a teenager hangout spot, growing up we had the “canteen” which was an old bar converted to a teenager hangout, arcade, pool parlor pinball machines, had food drinks snacks, it was like the Max from Saved by the bell.
That sounds really cool! My only question is, would it be a hangout for teenagers since there is no alcohol? Or do mostly adults frequent them?
Just curious. Idk if teenagers even go anywhere anymore these days.
Another sober bar…this one in Denver, Colorado…
An alcohol-free place to socialize? Sounds like a great idea.
