Sober buddies needed!

I can’t stop drinking even though my liver enzymes are super high and I’m having alcohol related side effects.
I have always enjoyed drinking because of the euphoria that comes along with it. It makes me feel relaxed and ease my mind/anxiety.
I started drinking big bottles of wine during Covid which I started to love. I never would drink alone but now it’s a favorite hobby.
I stopped drinking for 3 months a couple years ago and felt great. However, I returned to drinking in moderation at first then went right back to drinking daily.
I’m just so sad but also ashamed that I’m choosing this for my body knowing that alcohol is harming my health.
I need help and just need a friend/sponsor willing to support me in my pre quit phase leading to recovery.
I’m in the DFW Texas area so please please reach out if you’re in this area as well.
However, I would love to communicate with anyone available in order to get better!

Welcome Virginia.
This is a great sober supportive community. But you do have to be sober to be on this forum.

Have a good read around.

I don’t usually push AA meetings because that’s not how I got sober. I do go to AA now. I find it very comforting being around people that are in the same situation. It takes a team of support to defeat this cunning baffling powerful disease. We know we can’t drink like normal people. But we drink anyway even though it may can and will kill us. That’s why we need as much support as possible.

I hope you can find what you’re looking for.

There’s dozens of meetings in Dallas where you can find friends and sponsors to support you. Here’s the meeting list. You can filter it to all types of meetings if you like (women’s meetings, in-person, online, etc), so feel free to explore.

Don’t give up; it is possible.

Welcome to Talking Sober!

Welcome to the community and glad to have you here. This is a really great place with a lot of awesome people with support and it’s pretty cool because it’s 24 seven and you can always reach out or talk to somebody. I definitely understand the progression of the drinking like you’re talking about. Have you ever considered trying Alcoholics Anonymous and going to meetings and getting a sponsor in person? For me this has been really beneficial in my recovery especially going to meetings and having a Home group where I see the same people on a regular basis and basically I am in the middle of recovery. I also have developed a network of people I can call whenever I need good or bad and also can do fun things with Like go out to eat or sporting events or whatever. If not AA there is a lot of different programs out there. If you go to a meeting you can listen for somebody that has something you want like peace of mind and contentment and you can ask them to sponsor you and take you through the steps. They will probably give you suggestions or things to do on a daily basis but these things will help your life and your recovery and help you to not drink. Like I said welcome to the community. We are here for you and you’re not alone. You can recover And you can be happy and live your life without alcohol

As far as the in person meetings there is a lot of different apps that can tell you where meetings are in your area. I think you can type in AA Inner group On Google and it will give you a page that you can find meetings for your area I think you said Texas so I’m sure there is a lot of meetings in your area because they are all over the United States and the other countries as well

Welcome Virginia happy to have you here! :yellow_heart: anytime you want to chat feel free to message me, I’m not in DFW but I’m always here to listen.

Welcome! Covid really made me double down on my drinking too :downcast_face_with_sweat:, but on the plus side, the development of online meetings was what got me sober. Making connections takes time and effort, whether f2f or online, so just keep reaching out. :purple_heart:
