Love NIN as well. Went to their concert in Las Vegas a couple years ago. It was a bit hazy because we ended up pre gaming before the concert!! Ugh!! Can not wait to go to concerts sober🤘🏽
That’s so rad. So cool. I am almost 10 months sober. Have not been to a concert sober yet. They all cancelled because COVID. So that is my biggest red trigger fear. I don’t crave drinking, it’s the anxiety I fear.
Russell is great to listen to, very inspiring
Tyler is an inspiration to me. Didn’t know he is sober tho, that’s so hot
I miss going to concerts. My husband and I go to Vegas at least twice a year for concerts. The last one we went to was Iron Maiden last September. I’ve only been sober for 20 days, hopefully I’m strong enough to go to Vegas and concerts when it is safe to go:) Take care!!
didnt know about brian chippendale, thats cool
Don’t say “only 20 days”, everybody has to do the same time. Great job, that’s so awesome. Every little bit helps, and when you count the days don’t forget to make the days count.
Stephen King! I read that he wrote Carrie in the midst of a huge binge and thought it was so bad he threw it away. His wife secretly dig it out of the trash and had it published. His writing is just as good (if not better) sober. It’s amazing how we get back to our true selves sober.
Yes, you are right. Every min, hour, and day counts. Most definitely. Thank you:) Evey sober day is a victory!!
I’ve seen a few of em at my meetings…lol.
I won’t dump my entire thread here in one post (shameless self promotion) but will say what strikes me are the sober musicians that can sing/write about those feelings associated with this disease that I can’t put into words and take me right back to the spot I felt that I had that feeling and make me relive it.
There are three guys that can really do that for me right now and each takes me to a totes different type of place. Rhett Miller. Kenny Roby (particularly his new one). Jason Isbell.
When I try to describe an alcoholic’s anxiety to someone, I often refer them to Isbell’s song Anxiety. His recent album has a song It Gets Easier, that nearly (OK Goat doesn’t cry so nearly is relative) brought me to tears the first time I heard it.
probably because of being afraid of being judged I forgot even to mention Krishna Das. My HP Maharaji led him to my yoga studio and this music and the talks of Ramm Das 6 years ago. I grew up in the opposite of this as a western european shallow christian.
this is the one that represents my sobriety. https://youtu.be/7EgqG9kELZY
this one is more generally accepted https://youtu.be/PTc8X37oJBE
and there was this one interview with him about his sobriety that shook me to the core. I forgot to share the link. thinking it would never vanish. but life happened and I went on. If I find it it will sure in this stage benefit me more even then it will do to you
Moby is a sober animal activist and owner of a restaurant where i live that donates all the money generated to animal rights organizations.
Rob Lowe because he’s had an enormous career in hollywood being sober for decades - thats gotta be hard to do! he also sounds like a wonderful father and i love sober dads.
I don’t know if he is a thing outside the UK but comedian/presenter/DJ/actor/(singer)/Brummie Frank Skinner. He is very funny and is always quick to talk about his drinking years. “I too had a dream I wet the bed once, and when I woke up - guess what?”
Russell Brand
Keith Urban
Macklemore
Brene Brown
(The late) Wayne Dyer
and many more
Wow, I love frank skinner and didn’t know this

I just read that Drew Barrymore has been sober for 2 1/2 years. Everyone is different but for me it kind of gives a little bit of satisfaction to know that famous people that are admired worldwide go through the same struggles we do. I honestly can’t name one movie she was in, except the wedding singer? But music is my favorite and I love listening to Joe Walsh talk about sobriety. Can anyone else share a famous person that is sober that has inspired them? I just thought this would be a nice idea for a thread
Yeah, strangely, I find it useful too!
You may find a lot of celebrities on this Instagram account, with plenty of inspirational quotes
I’ll give you an idea of my age with this image of Drew Barrymore. Pretty sure this was her first role.
I remember that movie! I did not know that was her.
