I actually work for the department of natural resources. I did about 4 years of work on the park as it was getting ready to open as a state park. I was actually just there last week taking pictures of a forestry project from 2016. I know it like the back of my hand! Great climbing :+1:. Is this like old mill area? Maybe the dungeon?

Eldorado has great climbing but crowds.

It’s good to hear from you, T. I’m happy that you are doing so well. And it’s always an extra smile for the day to see a Chief pic!

Sounds like you have awesome job! I appreciate the great work you and the dnr and cpw have put into staunton. I love my work as a software developer, but I’m always daydreaming that I should have picked a career that let me be outdoors! When I retire I will volunteer somehow in the park service.

Staunton has been my goto place this summer. It’s only like 30 min drive for me. I think that pic was at marmot tower. I was at dines last saturday and the raven the week before. I think this weekend we are going back to the pooka. I love how all the crags are spread out! As for eldo I have not climbed there for many years and ya I hear it can be a zoo with the crowds. I used to do a little trad climbing there back in the day but nowadays I’m sport climbing.

Anyway, if you are out at the park and see a guy with the yellow helmet say hi!

Bye for now…

It’s his signature noise when he turns into a whirling tornado and races around. He’s the wild card of the Looney Toons bunch:

(watch 10 seconds into the cartoon or so & you’ll see it here)

He’s a layered character :innocent:

In some ways actually he reminds me of Oscar the Grouch. Both of them are perceived as unpredictable people; both of them though, in many ways, are able to be more honest (or at least less filtered) for that reason:

Interesting - @Mephistopheles re: your observation about how he gets bullied - I see that too and I think it relates to these characters - for example Taz being bullied or Oscar being annoyed by Grover - and it relates to their reactivity. Something about their different manner (unorthodox manner) of engaging with the world, prompts unorthodox (and sometimes apparently cruel) engagement from those around them.

Speaking as someone who was (and still is) a fairly reactive type, it’s a recurring pattern. Does this mean reactivity is a quality to be ironed out? I don’t think so. I think reactivity and creativity and inventiveness go hand in hand: the reactivity fuels curiosity - seeking out reaction - and observation and response (as opposed to passively letting the world go by).

It does mean people with reactive streaks need to be coached on using that quality in a way that helps them, and capitalized on it, rather than being (perceived as) a shortcoming.

I’m a bit late for the party, as usual… congratulations on becoming a grandpa! :older_man: :baby_bottle: You look good on your first sober grandpa pic, Eric! :relaxed:
