Greetings from Spain, we have a drink-way-of-life similar than yours, but it is possible to say no. I say not to drink because I deserve. It is a present I give for my myself.
My present, our present, is sobriety. Nothing to explain to the others. We say no to the booze just because we want. It is a question of being alive or not.
And I want to be alive, I do not want to suffer.
