Conkers is one thing my brothers and I retained after our time living in England. Back in Ohio, USA, conkers are known as buckeyes, and we continued to swing them after we moved back.

The buckeye gets its name from its distinctive nutlike seed that, when dried, appears a rich, dark brown color with a single lighter brown spot that resembles the eye of a deer .
I bet “horse chestnut” has a similar etymology.
