It was surreal. The splash, realizing I am under water. the sound. The water is cold, I gasped a little and inhaled a little water. I was getting pulled under the boat. I saw the ladder and started swimming. I was wearing my gear and boots and I thought I was completely fucked. I swam hard. I grabbed the ladder. Got it!. It felt slow motion until I started climbing the ladder. My arms were tired.

While changing into dry clothes. I considered going home. I thought I cant leave Phil hanging. our help is a rookie who talked his way onto the boat from us livestreaming.

I ended up getting the gear off the boat mostly myself. The weather got worse. it was blowing thirty for that first load. 2nd load was blowing twenty.

He ended up deciding that crabbing wasn’t for him when we got back to shore.

I was thinking I cannot drown at the dock! this is not acceptable! one of my sayings that kelps keep me sober is that drinking is a dishonorable death. drowning at the dock was not acceptable either.

It looks way more fun than it is, I take it? And of course, the soundtrack sucks out on the boat!

Thank-you @Clenton85 Your story is inspiring!

Thanks @Ccn31

@Philipwithonel LOL. I havent made any money yet. As soon as this storm settles hopefully that will change. Thanks!

@tailee17 the guy running the crane and I don’t like each other. Even he was running down the ladder to help me. Its hard to not like that guy now

Holy Shit Jason :scream:
I’m so glad you’re ok. Great thing you are sober too. You were able to deal with all that and survive. I can’t imagine how frightening that was. Sure you’re a seasoned veteran of the seas. But fuck me that got to be scary shit regardless. No reason to drink about it these days. But I definitely hear ya on the old days.
Be care out there buddy.
:pray:t2::heart:

Oh My Goodness! Wow! I am so grateful that you are OK, that you made it through that! I’m glad that you are a strong man and you had your survival instinct in full gear. ( Literally dressed in full gear also) Thank you from me for having the ability that you did to save yourself.
You saved yourself by stopping drinking and now you just did it again, thank goodness you stopped drinking or you might not have had wherewithal to save yourself.
A very big grateful UGH with a HUG.
And yes, you do look younger, remarkably so.
Proud of all your achievements, including, not drowning at the dock. Big hugs.

Thanks @happyfeet I should have put a warning on the video.
Thanks @Dirk
Thanks @Dazercat I have been wanting to make each season my retirement from crabbing the last few years. It hasn’t been working out. I love it. but I am getting too old for this shit. I am the 2nd oldest crabber on the dock.
Thanks @Alisa
Thanks @Seb

The storm is still howling, its looking like its going to come down around 22 hours from now.
I had the whole day off yesterday, today I have to prepare for tomorrow. Its going to be a grind. 120 traps are soaking. We still have 80 to get out there, and its time to start pulling gear.

We have a couple of replacement options for our rookie. I hope one of them shows up in time.

I’m caught up on my sleep. I had crazy vivid dreams. I feel like I have a lot of unfinished business to take care of. I’m grateful to be here!
