Sober Selfies #19 (NO swimwear, shirts required, please review rules)

I’ve had a few upsets not so long ago and even after 4 years of sobriety alcohol offers itself as a quick and easy solution, we know better now though we know there is a better way. I was told the good news about sobriety is we get our feelings back and the bad thing about sobriety is we get our feelings back.
Keep trudging the path of happy destiny, obstacles and all.
Well done on your sober days :+1:

Thank you, my people. I am trying to own myself again. It’s hard, but major at this time. Sadness needs to move along.

Crab Season has kicked off. Its been stormy and ocean conditions are angry.
I worked 44 hours straight and the weather came in and gave me a chance to get a solid ten hours of sleep!
I’m on call and ready to do it again!

It was rough loading gear at the dock and I got knocked off the boat from the waves pounding on us.It was surreal. the current was ripping, pulling me under the boat. I saw the dock ladder and swam as hard as I could. I made it!

I was livestreaming. Heres a clip!

The old me would have used this as the perfect excuse to drink myself to oblivion, probably end up smoking meth in a black out at the bar while I’m snorting oxies off the nasty back of the toilet at our seediest bar.

Instead, I’m grateful that I don’t live like that anymore!

Since my last drunk that I like to call my final relapse! :muscle:

I was out of breath and winded when I was changing into dry clothes. I know it would have been much worse if I hadn’t quit smoking. I may not have had it in me…

Damned man, scary shit! Glad you’re here to tell it! On another note: your face is regressing in age! It’s getting younger and younger! No smoke and no booze is so bloody good for us all. Congrats friend. Have a good crabbing season. No more ocean dives ok?

Thanks! You know what they call people who swim in our ocean? they call them tourists. LOL. No more swimming for me.

In the older days over here, most fishermen couldn’t swim. Superstition.

Jason, your ability to pull gratitude out of any situation will stand you in good stead. I saw that clip of your trip into the water, and I thought about your other time you got caught by the rogue wave.

Fishing can be dangerous business, I’m so glad you have a clear head and an able body!
