I started learning from my mom around 10 years old. The only son to do so. I enjoyed the creativity. But still learned a lot the same way, n continue to learn through trial n error. Always trying something new. You obviously wanted to learn n put the time in.

Haha it was 15°c yesterday here and full sun. We hadn’t had that nice of weather yet this year. Snow just recently. I was sitting out in the sun in shorts with my little guy hoping it didn’t get too much warmer as I was hot :joy: and I actually thought to myself, I think some folks in Australia would have a jacket on  I even got sunburn :joy:

I did the conversion to Fahrenheit and thought “That’s spring time around here!”

It will get much warmer too (and very humid, which I loathe humidity). Summer temps often around 30°c (86F) plus humidex. So I found 15-20 nice and comfy without sweating to bits, as long as humidex is down. I think 15c felt so warm yesterday as we’ve had colder temps to start spring off :sunny: my veggie garden will be happy! Now that I’ve said all this, watch it snow next week :joy:

It’s coming. Hang in there.

Have you ever stepped outside on the morning after a stormy night? The air seems different, fresher, sweeter. The colors of the grass, trees and flowers more vibrant. Everything just seems new again. Why is this?

It’s contrast. That’s what the human eye and the human mind notices first. Dark vs. Light. Cold vs. Warm. Sadness vs Joy.

My martial arts school recently resumed limited on-site classes, albeit in the parking lot, with masks, and no physical contact between students. We drag the bags out of the dojo, and hit them outside. We practice escapes and counters against imaginary opponents.

Weve been doing much the same these last two months, via zoom and Facebook live. Instructors at the school, students at home, striking a bag if they have one, practicing techniques with a partner if they have one. If not, punching at the air, and simulating escape and counter. I have a full fight gym at home, but I jumped at the chance just to train in true proximity to my fellow students.

What’s changed? The contrasts. Whether it’s seeing my customers again, after only communicating via phone or email, seeing my fellow students at martial arts class, seeing my coworkers again, it just feels different, sweeter.

I hope I can hang on to this feeling for a good long time. I certainly plan to try.

Hang in there. A new dawn is almost here.

86F is perfect weather here in NoVA. In mid-summer we average in the mid-90’s, often break 100, and the humidity is thick.

All your weather posts make me giggle. We broke 100 last month. We skip spring and had a 3 week winter I swear. It’s 10am and already 89°. Only a few more weeks and we will have monsoon season so it will be hot and gross humid…you know the kind that makes your finger nails sweat.
