Thats my glove. I had my fingers in its gill plate. Safest way to hold them.
I have never been bit. I have seen them snap a inch and a half thick wooden gaff handle like it was a toothpick.
I wait until their head is up against the side of the crab pot. And grab the neck with both hands as fast as i can, slip a finger in the gill plate and theres not much they can do from there.

They do look very alien like. Its a wolf eel. They are gentle creatures in the wild.
Hes scared for his life when they get caught, and their only defense is their powerful jaw.
