I totally get this. If when I started someone told me walking around with a tomato on my head would get me sober I would be like, Show Me Them Tomatoes.
youve got my vote:)
Interested in joining the fray?
no, im very grateful we have you, and hope you get some much needed help, but i am not cut out for it.
Exactly right. Some people like to flag everything just because it gets their panties in a snit. I sometimes wonder if they are seeking attention. They need to remember this forum us for addiction it’s not Facebook.
That was a lot to catch up on. I think that the athiest thread was just misinterpreted by many people. There was likely a lack of transparency in that for newer members who wouldnt get the joke. Sorry for anyone that I may have offended.
Maybe it is best that there are no topics created to proof a point, although I was agreeing with the topic you raised this afternoon very very much.
Being an atheist myself I disliked how some members here go about the AA/NA program.
I usualy just reply on there posts giving my insights on the program and the understanding of an higher power.
Let’s aim for nuance out here
I’d say aim for the 90% ignore the 10% unless it is really triggering you. Then i choose to reply as well. Couple of weeks ago there was this thread and gun possesion came up sorry not sorry I’ll speak my mind on that.
I’m of to bed!
What’s really disturbing to me is the lack of recent read time some of these moderators have. Check them out. They’re unacceptable. They’re all really good people. But the proof shows that they’re not present on TS.
I get your frustrations. I personally really like all 4 mods. But I feel sassy is shouldering far to large a burden. A forum of this size would honestly need a few admins and 10 moderators. Sassy is doing a great job with the hand she is dealt
I love all the mods but I only see Sassy around.
This conversation is fucking ridiculous. I mean, I genuinely dont see why this is so difficult to understand and… honestly…naming, shaming and blaming the moderators right now? Really?! In 24 hrs, after 2 months absence, I can honestly say that this is just a a really weak attempt at deflecting attention off a handful of individuals who have an apparant inability to control themselves.
The other Mods may not be as present as @SassyRocks but why should they be?! Why should Sassy have to be here as much as she is? They’re all real people with real lives to lead outside of this app.
Is it not occurring to anyone right now that if everybody just…oh I dont know…used their adult brain and moderated themselves, rather than having to be babysat, that maybe the mods wouldnt need to be so heavily involved?!
Well yea if everyone acted perfect there would be no need for mods. Unfortunately this is reality. Theres many people from all walks of life trying to get sober that get triggered at the drop of a hat. Theres people that are insensitive and people that are over sensitive. Mods are basically like police. They are necessary in a large community. Even a gamefaqs forum has mods.
I believe someone earlier mentioned a rotation of mods so that it wouldn’t interfere with their lives as much. You know I’ve always gotten along with you because I think we are very similar to me. That being said, you are very similar to me, and it’s kinda showing with your abrasiveness currently. Though it’s pretty clear to me why you’d be animated on the subject I would bet there’s a few people mumbling under their breath about you at this very moment. This thread was designed to see if we can make improvements to the forum. Not come on here casting blame and creating more problems. If you need to vent hop on over to the truth and Tough love thread. I just started a new one so we got about 2,000 more posts left to vent our frustration.
Conversations were had, by all appearances civility is restored. Or at least healthy enough.
Dust still kicks up. S–t still happens. One level-headed mod putting pause on a conversation at the right time goes a long way when it does, as does presence.
I also think all the mods are great. Absolutely nothing personal in the observation. No knock to those who are elsewhere or just not as visible.
My experience with forums, one or two active mods isn’t enough for a place with hundreds of posts per day. It’s a fair suggestion.
D’you know, I’ve probably written 6/7 different responses to this and I’m just going to leave it here.
I do agree, we are similar as hell.
I would inviten anyone mumbling under their breath about me to speak up a little and let me hear it. I’m all ears
Rule 62. If you don’t know it, google it. Live by it and you might be happier
You know I know it! I got a shirt with that on it.
Question: if someone requests that a whole thread they posted be taken down, do mods need to comply? Or is it mod discretion? One was removed recently, and people were still talking about it. Those of us that never read the original were incredibly confused. I felt like I couldn’t really provide much understanding or advice because I was missing an entire side of a story. Ppl ripped me a new one, and I didn’t ask for it to be removed because I should be accountable for what I say on here. I just feel like it gives people the idea that they can post whatever they want, get people fired up, then ask to have it deleted. I feel like for accountability purposes threads should be locked only, not deleted. Thoughts?
I should clarify too, that I don’t mean that mods don’t reserve the right to take down something if they feel it is inappropriate. For example, if someone posted a link to pornographic material, that should be deleted. However, I don’t think that an OP should be able to have a thread removed just because they don’t like the feedback or reaction it received.
I think its okay if it gets removed. When there is drama I miss I don’t go look for it I count myself lucky that I missed it.
