Songs I'm Geeking On

I was going to say " How did I miss this?!", then I saw its from the Grammy awards, so of course I missed it. Anyhow…Nine Inch Nails, Queens Of The Stone Age, Dave Grohl, and Lindsey Buckingham all playing together doing a NIN tune, then a QOTSA one.

I knew Reznor/Homme/Grohl are all buddies, but drop Lindsey Buckingham in there? One of my favorite musicians (and Grohl is a favorite when he drums)? It all works really well.

I actually saw NIN later this same year (2014) when they toured with Soundgarden. That was a great show. NIN is always fantastic, I never miss them…seen them 3 or 4 times now.

Edit: Here is a pic from the show w/ NIN & Soundgarden. July 2014. Thought I lost this photo!

Hadn’t heard this song in years until yesterday. I find It’s message relevant now more than ever.

Work by Jars of Clay

I have no fear of drowning, it’s the breathing that’s taking all this work

I only know ‘Looking too Closely’ but it’s an awesome track.

Come here
Lower your eyes and surrender
To the blossoms spring has brought
To adorn our grief
With the memory of you
Love stole away to another body
To another thief
To a world you are withering
You are starving, draining its blood
Come here
We know nothing of hatreds

Nor their jealousies
Nor their enmities
We laugh and dance in perfect composure
This is our beauty
Of simplicity and severity of discipline
Be free of whatever they teach
Of whatever they preach
Free yourself of their entrapment’s
Of their weapons of mass distraction
Free yourself from the bondage of time and place and status
For what peace do they give?
What truth do they reveal?
What lie do they live?
Whose blood weeps from these wounds?
Detach yourself!
Detach yourself

Just when I think I’m winning
When I’ve broken every door
The ghosts of my life blow wilder than before
Just when I thought I could not be stopped
When my chance came to be king
The ghosts of my life blew wilder than the wind

“Once I was so sure, now the doubt inside my mind comes and goes but leads nowhere…”

Oh wow. I love Japan  I love Ghosts and Nightporter. I really love nightporter.

This artist holds a special place in my heart. One of the intriguing story tellers I’ve heard.

Old Gemini by Radical Face

This song is a sequel, if you will, about twin brothers, one whom had died.

We all get stuck in circles
but nothing moves in perfect lines
Connections underly the things we see
But to nuances we’re blind

Procession moves on, the shouting is over,
Praise to the glory of loved ones now gone.
Talking aloud as they sit round their tables,
Scattering flowers washed down by the rain.

Stood by the gate at the foot of the garden,
Watching them pass like clouds in the sky,
Try to cry out in the heat of the moment,
Possessed by a fury that burns from inside.

Cry like a child, though these years make me older,
With children my time is so wastefully spent,
A burden to keep, though their inner communion,
Accept like a curse an unlucky deal.

Played by the gate at the foot of the garden,
My view stretches out from the fence to the wall,
No words could explain, no actions determine,
Just watching the trees and the leaves as they fall.

Idles - Television

Wasn’t sure how to get the preview to show up with the link.

Funny coincidence.
I’ve had this on repeat since yesterday, just really been stuck in my head.

Great band.
