Starting my sobriety

New here, finding an AA meeting where I live is not easy but this seems like a good place to start.

My name is Michael. On Saturday June 7th I got behind the wheel of my truck after a night at the bar, my life has been forever changed now but my eyes are open. I need to make these changes for myself and for my family because we all deserve the best version of me. The road ahead is going to suck and be a lot of work but I know I have no choice but to come out of this a better person.

Hey Michael. Welcome to Talking Sober. We’re glad to have you here. I’m sorry you had to hit such a low to spur a change- i don’t want to speak for anyone else, but I’d say you’re in good company in that respect. There are lots of good meetings online too if you can’t get to an in-person one as regularly as you’d like. Stick around okay?

Welcome Mikey.
I’m glad you found us before it’s too late.
This is a great sober community for support.
Read around. Learn as much as you can about alcoholism and addiction. Join in when you’re comfortable.
Here’s a good thread for some info if you like.

You got any questions just ask. Someone is always around to help.
