Hi im new to becoming sober been drinking heavy since 17 years old now I’m 30 what helps in your day to day life to not pick up a drink aswell as motivation and will power
The bar is set just right for me and my sobriety. To get to the point where I reached a limit and to understand that limit is important.
I work 8full hours a day with a 1 hour break not included so I’m at work for 9hours a day. Some days I feel like I could work.for 12 hours and other days I need to get lots of rest.
My advice
Push yourself but don’t overdue it
It’s not good to be stagnant but it’s also not good to be overworked
Take it easy on yourself and ask is this where I want to be in the near and or far future
@TJ9595 Welcome to our community Thomas. You’re welcome here and congrats on wanting to stop drinking.
Honestly a major help to me man, has been working the 12 steps. If you want, I can post the links for the virtual and in-person meeting finders for you if you would like, just let me know.
I don’t think we can do it on our own, a lot of recovery people say stuff like:
“I can’t, but we can".” and “we do recover.”
Advice from me would be start going to AA meetings replace drinking with AA
Morning T.

Howdy i realised that will power wasnt helpfull i had to find a recovery program so i went to AA ito started drinking at 17 stopped at 34 still sober ill be 74 in january wish you well
For me, in the beginning there were 3 things that helped me. The first thing was to take it one day at a time, sometimes it was minute to minute and other days I would have to break it into hours. My main point is to break sobriety into small chunks of time which are more achievable goals. The second thing was to find things to keep me busy (exercise, going to support meetings, learning new things etc) and the final thing I did was try to build a sober community of new friends. As a recovery coach I am not going to say meetings are required or necessary since coaching focus is usually on harm reduction. I will say that AA and other recover meetings were/are a part of my journey and if you want a sense of community that is a great way to start.
