Day 12!

Things are starting to level out and feel better now! Iā€™m down 5.4 lbs since starting this and a total of 12. But WAY more importantly, my clothes fit better, I am way less swollen and have more energy most days. Still in a bit of an emotional funk but lots going in including PMS. Sorry for the tmi haha! Normally now Iā€™d be craving sugar like crazy. So far so good, super glad I made this change.

Well done @MandiH!!! Awesome progress and keep the updates coming. Following your journey is really helpful for me

Ive been struggling with diet a bit recently. Now that im exercising a lot more ive had trouble working out whats best. I tried targeted keto but id often feel exhausted with awful brain fog. Very similar to keto flu infact. I happen to work with a qualified nutritionist so asked for some help and heā€™s been great. He advised that as im now fat adapted I shouldnt really need the carbs and the reason ive been feeling rotten is due to a massive calorie deficit. I was not eating anywhere near enough. So heā€™s kindly redone my macros and Im gonna try that for a month. It takes me up to 178g fat which honestly sounds horrible and will be a struggle, but Im gonna crack on. Ill also try and cut down on the dairy.

He also gave me this book. Ive not read it yet, but thought id share as he swears by it.

I am jumping on this band wagon! I bought Mark Hyman 10 day sugar detox book and recipe book. Although, Iā€™m planning to go beyond 10 days. Iā€™m on day 3 and so far feeling good. The recipes are delicious (at the least the few Iā€™ve tried so far)

Welcome!! It is pretty amazing getting off the sugar/carbs. I still get tripped up with my need for sweet ā€¦Lilyā€™s chocolate chips made with erythritol are my guilty pleasure.

Whatā€™s weird is over the last three days, specifically after I eat, Iā€™m craving something sweet like ice cream or cookies. But only just after I ate. So Iā€™m hoping these weird mini craving will go away soon. I dealt with a bit of a headache yesterday which kind of sucked but other than that Iā€™m feeling good.

I get that A LOT and if I indulge it, it sticks around. I try for a couple of blueberries, but invariably I get some of those damn Lilyā€™s chocolate chips!

So day 6 of no sugar. My mom is also doing the no sugar thing. Although we are losing weight, I didnā€™t really notice any other differences. Well, my mom and I went to see a special showing of Grease in theaters tonight. As a ā€œTestā€ we decided to buy some candy that we always enjoyed. And LET. ME. TELL. YOU. We both feel awful. I got Nestle crunch bar and she got twizzlers. I have a headache, Iā€™m nauseous, and I just overall feel miserable. I feel like I am hungover. I just want to crawl in bed and not move. Iā€™m drinking water, I hope it will make me feel better. I am NEVER doing that again. Iā€™m done. I donā€™t need the candy or the sugar. I canā€™t even think about ice cream or creme brulee (the only 2 desserts I like). Ug. I feel awful. No more ā€œtestsā€ for me, Iā€™m done.

Iā€™m back on the sugar free train. For me that means avoiding added sugar - mainly sweet treats and refined carbs. I am into week two. Havenā€™t been completely ā€˜cleanā€™ because I did have a couple of soda and tonics at the weekend, but I was at an ale festival so Iā€™m letting that go.

I have had a lot of general background anxiety this week. I thought it was just work but I wonder if the sugar is part of it.

Iā€™ve been taking a break from sugar for two weeks. I had quit drinking last December and was using sugar way too much. I feel like the sobriety thing has become second nature (but not getting complacent!) so now itā€™s time to tackle the sugar. Iā€™ve been reducing carbs at lunch, then having a normal meal at dinner, then no deserts except for some sugar free candies. I know Iā€™ve lost weight but my daughter took my scale so not sure how much! @siand I havenā€™t had anxiety but my sleep isnā€™t the best. Howā€™s yours? Good luck to you! Howā€™s everyone else doing?

Thanks @Forester96. We are about 3 miles from Flagler Beach, love that little town.

Cutting out the carbs should help you with that tummy thing. Intermittent fasting may help as well.

Doing 16:8 intermitting fasting now these days. So no eating after 20.00 untill 12 oā€™clock the next day. Itā€™s easy to mantain. Before I did 5:2 fasting. But I found it hard and it triggered my migraine (5:2 is 2 days fasting (eating 600 kcal) and 5 days normal eating).
Iā€™ve got 3 kilo off but it goes slowwwwwā€¦
2 more kilo to go. Also stopped eating chocolate and sugar. Thinking about reducing the coffee ā€œthingā€. But affraid if I deny myself to much Iā€™m gonna crave alcohol again :confounded:

I agree that is a good fasting schedule and easy to keep.

What about coffee are you thinking of changing? Too much caffeine? Added sugar?

I gave up pots and pots of coffee years ago thankfully. Man, that was a headache for real til I got over it.

Yeah, sounds like a plan. Iā€™m starting my keto diet tomorrow and watching my food portions. Ivevpretty much said bye bye to sodas and energy drinks. Been rockin the free tea and Suja drinks. They have a lot less sugar. Good luck, Iā€™ll be following you guys!

Iā€™m drinking 2 to 5 cups a coffee in the morning. I think itā€™s to much. I think itā€™s not good for my body (the caffein). So thatā€™s why. I replaced one coffee allready for a healthy smoothie  I use my coffee black, no sugar so thatā€™s not the problem

Try decaf maybe? Iā€™ve been using that to try and cut down on caffeine but like you said, better to have too much coffee than any alcohol!! You have to do what works for you.

I drink coffee Black, no sugar or dairy. I switch between decaff and regular normally to try and reduce the amount of caffeine but lately working night shifts Iā€™ve been naughty and drinking americano coffee
