Been researching my family tree tonight and have gone back in time to 1785, 238 years ago, when my Great Great Great Great Grandfather was born, near Taunton, Somerset, UK.
Incredible. Now I’m wide awake at 11pm UK time!
What did you use to trace back so far. That’s pretty cool
No IOP tonight, so I listened to a few recovery podcasts to and from work. Read a bit on here, cooked dinner and sat and watched the Phillies game with the wife.
I have not had any cravings for alcohol which I am grateful for. I am definitely trying to stay busy and get all my responsibilities completed. When drinking. I hardly got any done. Being sober. I have to work pretty hard to get them all done 87 days sober today. Hopefully will get more energetic soon.
LoL! I opened this thread after over a month and had written and just didn’t hit the Reply button:
Went fishing and this guy crosses my line and then walks up to me and was annoying me with dumb comments for like half an hour.
The website ancestry.co.uk is full of useful information.
You have to double check every fact, names dates places, but it’s good fun doing research.
Okay cool thanks, I’ll see how it works for the US.
Today i really pushed myself to do what I needed to do to better myself and to lessen that addict voice (since its been so loud lately). Exercise, eating healthy food, and prayer were the things I did today.
Good for you. I wanted to do all those things too. I got up.. Thankfully I don’t have many cravings. Eating right and exercising really do help one feel better and should do it daily.
Got out of the house
Did my best at work. Was kind to others. Let go of controlling people and situations around me. Practiced gratitude.
Spending the afternoon alone at Barnes @ Noble having coffee and doing a wee bit of jouraling right now.
Work
Made food
Chocolate
Talking with family

Reached out to a friend for support who would listen and not judge me. Was kind to myself without judgement. Stop the self hate talk.
I’m about to eat which really kills my cravings. This evening has been rough. Only on day 4 of sobriety however…
Yes! Eating really works for me too. Congratulations on Day 4, or Day 5 probably by the time you read this
This week I’ve been having some mild MJ withdrawals. What I do most days to stay sober is stay home and when that gets tough I try to have long phone calls with friends. I live in a remote and rural area, and I work from home online. it’s 30 minutes drive to the nearest liquor store or marijuana dispensary. This situation has proven helpful to me when I want to sober up.
I used to live in a college town with breweries and dispensaries and parties everywhere. I couldn’t imagine quitting under those circumstances but I know it is possible. It just feels like punishment when you live in a place with a very hedonistic culture that you once enjoyed.
I went for a ride on my bike! First time in almost a year. I cleaned out my hot tub, and joined this group!
Welcome Kim I have been thinking recently about getting a bike. Do you go off road, or just use it instead of a car? I am not sure I am confident enough on the roads but love the idea of getting out into the countryside
Not motorcycle, bicycle. But I did ride a Harley for many years.
