Going to watch them all today, but primarily looking forward to Brazil v Morocco. Morocco had such a great showing at the last tournament, and of course Brazil is Brazil.
I think Haiti / Scotland is a sneaky good fixture as well. While I don’t think the Scots will have an issue winning that one - I do think Haiti will make a match of it. This one is being played in the stadium I grew up going to.
Also hoping for an Australia win over Türkiye on behalf of my Aussie pals here.
I’m curious what will happen if Turkey wins. Usually a big street party follows a win with a lot of noise and maybe some riotting in the part of town where most people of Turkish descent live. This game finishes 8 am on Sunday morning
I might get up for that game then lol…. If Morocco/Brazil or Turkey win, my street are going WILDDDDD.
But they are trying to keep up with the 2nd night of Harry Styles….i was falling asleep and heard screaming on the wind. He might be the loudest Wembley concert yet!!!
Really looking forward to the first 3 matches today.
Oddly enough, perhaps most excited for Argentina v Algeria. Not because of Argentina, but because I have a lifelong soft spot for Algeria. First ever World Cup match I remember watching was Algeria, and I remember they put up a fight and had kickass uniforms. It prompted me to get into the tournament, watch as much as I could, and I’ve done the same every WC (and Euro Cup) since. So I’m rooting for Algeria today and in all of their matches.
Looking ahead, Friday looks like a great day of football, and I have the day off.
US / Aussies, Scotland / Morocco (best match of the day), Brazil / Haiti, Turkiye / Paraguay.
That France - Senegal game was something. First half kinda nothing and then a very different second half. Enjoyed it. Always curious how France will play.
Spain played a quite bad first game, boohoo. Apparently it doesn’t mean much in terms of qualifying, but psychological pressure can weigh disastrously on these guys, so we’ll see how things go from here on.
