Correct it is. But you dont have to hang out in a pub, activites with friends can happen without alcohol. Events where alcohol is present, does not have to be attended.

There’s no alcohol if you’re out hiking in the woods, or biking, or swimming, or running or kayaking or reading a book in a home with no alcohol because you’ve gotten rid of it all….

Trust me, it’s not impossible.

Just sayin :man_shrugging:

Actually the Baclofen users typically are looking for the magic bullet that will cure them from their thirst for alcohol once and for all. Physically and mentally. Without all the hassle us mere mortals have to do for it. Be done with alcohol once and for all without the work, just getting the dose of the Baclofen right. They want the easy way out, and I can’t really blame them. There are some (with the emphasis on some) examples where it seems to have worked. It worked for the doctor who invented the treatment for example. Alas for the big majority it doesn’t work like that so far. Here’s an article from 2016 if anyone’s interested. The research quoted is obsolete now, new studies aren’t as favourable about the results by far.Baclofen: the controversial pill that could 'cure' alcoholism | Alcoholism | The Guardian

Thats what your all waited for, huh? That i struggle, that i suffer, right? I see, many of you hope that i will fail. Thats ridiculous, but ok, its not my problem. I will win this fight, you will see.

Have a nice weekend

My friend, you are 12 days sober and that is wonderful. If our comments seem to sound like we want you to suffer…that is not the case. We are simply offering what worked for us, hoping it will help you further your sober jorney.

Speaking for myself, I appologize if the delivery of what I said seemed negative.

I fully believe, that with more sober time…when you look back to all of this, you will see these comments were meant to be helpful.

I’m new here and only 11 days sober myself. From the outside looking in, reading this whole thread, all I see is genuine concern for you. Warranted concern from my vantage point.

I’m pretty sure all I said was that cravings will go away and then shared how it was for me.

I am a gaming addict. That shit is literally fucking everywhere. I don’t seek it out, I dont have games on my phone. I won’t let my brother bring his Xbox to my house. Everything I can do to avoid gaming in my life, I’ve done. No need to move to another country. I haven’t gamed in almost 2 years now

Yes. I think everyone heard a question in your compliment to those with a little more time. I hear people sharing their sympathy and experience, as we’ve all also been through the struggle and withdrawal.

Likewise my compliments to you and 12 days. It surely isn’t easy, but it can get easier. I have faith you will find the same life of peace beyond the bottle we all seek to enjoy. The world is so much bigger than that.

I don’t understand @ThePower you made this thread and you write down your feelings and the people here have very kindly offered there advice and support and you have taken offence to it

One of my friend is on baclofen for more than a year (I’m french). He claims it works fine, that he doesn’t feel the crave anymore. Meanwhile two weeks ago when I saw him, he was drinking some beers, still taking pills, and lied to us about his alcohol consumption. Since then he told me he quit beers again and feel great. I don’t know if he lies, to me and/or himself.
I don’t know what to think about baclofen…maybe it works for some, and not some others. I’m more a “keep it strong” guy, no medication of any sort for me. But we’re not all the same.

This hit home with me and my ongoing relationship with nicotine. I used patches to quit twice for 18 months ish. Used the patches for the first couple of months, broke the habit. But after a while, well here I am again.

Thinking about it, I never found my ‘why’ as @Thirdmonkey put it. So I lived smoke free, enjoyed the benefits, but didn’t properly understand the triggers and how to manage them when they inevitably popped up again.

Hope this isn’t too off topic @ThePower but I found the comments really interesting and helpful. Hope you can find something in them too. We are all rooting for you!

I can also help to reduce the consumptation, but if he lies about that, then its a really dangerous way. A beer or two, ok. But, were alcoholics…Better drinking a coke.

@all

About friday, sorry guys i was a bit pissed. I do not agree with some of you, escpacially the with the stuff about the “easy way”. But i shouldn’t react so harsh, so sorry.

Have a good journey and a fantastic run today here in Amsterdam. New personal best time after all this, its unbelievable…I was strong, fast, powerful, the complete opposite of two weeks ago. Like an other human. Strange… Still want to drink sometimes, but it is not so bad like friday. No side effects today, think i’m near to the right dosage. I guess this should be 45, will we see.

I feel seen. If a little xyz is good then a lot must be REALLY good. I do this with everything. Like I don’t think I have ever taken one Tylenol….even extra strength Tylenol.
