I have plenty of CDs but my 2014 Jeep didn’t come with a cd player :woman_facepalming:t2:

Oooh I do have a CD player in my 2006 car but something is stuck in it. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I think it’s a mix CD that a friend made for me and I immediately crumbled into ancient dust after typing that.

I had a CD player in my old car (2017 Focus) but not in my new car.

It dawned on me, while burning CD that, other than on my computer, I don’t have a CD player; done donated them all.

This weekend I am bringing my old laptop for recycling. It had a CD drive. My new iPad most probably won’t. Although maybe…

I get the Christmas blues. Not sure why exactly. I guess, I feel I don’t deserve the love I receive and I feel I don’t give the amount love my family deserves, especiallyto my wife. It makes me feel small and I hate myself for it. This feeling usually fades, but it makes it worse when you’re birthday is on deck and it all starts again. Like… leave me alone and let me cry in my hole… lol

Am I alone in this?

Sigh

I have felt that way in the past but not as much in the last decade or so. For one, I don’t have kids, and secondly we have made it a point to dial down our Christmas celebrating in recent years. Just enjoy the space and time together. We buy gifts together that are bigger ticket items and then fill each other’s stockings with tasty items, useful stuff, goofy or fun things and sometimes a special item. It works for us.

I’m more bummed this year because I missed out on Thanksgiving and Christmas due to illness, we had to cancel my inlaws’ visit up here from Florida, we didn’t see any friends or family, we didn’t decorate outside, it was a bummer. Trying to make up for it a bit this week and weekend is helping.

Oh, and my birthday’s in January, too and I get how complicated that usually is! My husband struggles mightily with that. So we work together on how to make it as special as we can. I had to let it go over the years that it just is second fiddle to the holiday season.

Having a birthday in the shadow of xmas is tough. I’ve always felt forgotten growing up…

My boys, they are December babies, 22nd and 27th, I can imagine how they must feel too. Their mom always tries to make their Bdays extra special.

This year I want to buck the trend and have a big celebration for my birthday

Same here! I’m thinking a weekend away at an Airbnb or a trip to Chicago or something since our holidays got so effed this year. It’s a good excuse to celebrate big time! Wow December babies, too, that’s tough. Can’t wait to hear about your plans!

My mom was born December 24th and always hated it because she never felt special. I’ve yet to meet anyone who was thrilled to have a birthday near Christmas.
