You’re in shorts, t-shirt & flipflops, whistling to yourself at a zoo as you check out a new ‘untamed newcomers from the wild’ section, slip on a banana skin and wOaHoAh, next thing you know, you’re trapped in a small, empty enclosure with one of these for 30mins until help arrives, you have nothing with you, and they’re pissed off and hungry. In all cases, you’re in their personal space, choose wisely, which one?

• A huge king cobra
• A huge polar bear
• A huge tiger
• Hundreds of big, deadly poisonous spiders
• A huge saltwater crocodile (you’re swimming)
• A huge great white shark (you’re swimming)

I’m pretty sure I would cause my own problems being in a room full of spiders. I only handle spiders well when my kids (now adults) need me to.

This is how I felt with the cobra. Get small and back Up. Close my eyes tightly and cry for those 30 minutes; quiet, non aggressive, crying.

But like how “big” are we talking that these spiders are? I can handle 30 min if they are similar to the size of ones in my house or I find outside but if we are talking like “big”….I don’t know. I need more info. lol

Growing up, we’d watch shows on TV, where people just walk in a house with their shoes on. Whether sitcoms or dramas. I thought it was just “TV” but it saw this post and wondered if it’s a thing? Not judging. Just curious. Cannot fathom walking into someone’s house without taking shoes off (although here we sometimes have indoor shoes/slippers etc but NO outdoor footwear)

It’s a tiny group of my friends who want shoes off in their home.

Also, I don’t wear shoes in my home, but don’t expect people to take theirs off.

Shoes on here. I also wear my scrubs into my living area when I get home from working in the hospital laboratory. I get that most people find this gross, I just personally don’t.

I mostly take my shoes off. Only a few times when I’ve gone somewhere where it was more sanitary to keep em on

I tend to need to lay down often and wherever I am at home so want to make sure my carpet and floors are clean enough for me

We are a shoes off nation unless the host tells us to keep shoes on.
at my house it’s shoes on because my floors have to deal with a 56 kg dog who doesn’t wear shoes and i do NOT mop them daily (sometimes not even weekly )
i myself change to indoor shoes when i enter, they are more comfy
of course dirty shoes must be taken off.

Depends… if expected as a guest always, otherwise, in summer it’s flipflops, in winter it’s houseshoes, but I’ll never keep other shoes on - do they count? I like my feet free but also clean. I’ll only really go barefoot temporarily on clean carpets if I’m on them for a while (or socks if it’s too cold to be barefoot, though I otherwise try to avoid them). As a kid I never wore shoes indoors, so I’ve actually changed in the opposite direction in that regard… one dirty or cold floor too many kind of taught me that.

The fact that literally no one here voted seeking company when feeling down is quite interesting…

Also that more people chose the past over the present… And not even one fan of the future haha

I’ll wait another day or two and then give those of you who voted on the dangerous animals one some survival tips/fun facts so you won’t be in doubt next time you find yourself at a zoo slipping on a banana skin

This is interesting. I know that taking shoes off when going into the house is the better way to do it, although nobody I know does it. I should say few people I know expect/ want others to take their shoes off.

I had no idea it was something that was mostly done in Canada.

Actually, in my own home, it’s kind of like it’s OK if I wear my shoes in the house but as far as everybody else ……. ….. ahem
And please, no bare feet

Maybe it’s not a whole of UK thing, but I always immediately take my shoes off in my home. I always take my shoes off when entering other people’s homes and I ask people to take their shoes off in my home. I wouldn’t ever consider shoes on, it’s gross (dog poo, vomit, bird poo, trash, rat wee)

Edited to add, London is very dirty. It’s proven there’s more germs on the tube seats and rails than on a toilet seat. In a city like that, shoes inside are a no.
