When going on vacation…what is your ritual/ habit for how you leave your home?

  • Spotless - cleaning fairy level
  • Good enough - Future me can deal with it
  • Mostly clean with a few strategic piles of laundry / dishes
  • Looks like a tornado hit my living space

Interesting diversity of votes on which dangerous animals you’d choose, some concerning…! so little lesson if you’re interested:

  1. Most chose the king cobra - not the worst choice, usually snakes (including cobras despite their huge size) will try to avoid you, hide or escape unless you explicitly threaten them, but since you’re in it’s personal space and it can’t hide or escape, it would feel threatened and most likely repeatedly strike in that specific situation, and its venom is amongst the most deadly out there - unless you’re confident with handling or catching snakes, then sure :ok_hand:

  2. Do not choose the polar bear! They might look cute and cuddly in teddy form, but unlike brown, black or other bears, polar bears are one of few predators on earth that will actively hunt humans without hesitation.

  3. Do not choose the tiger! Same as the polar bear, unlike house cats or other smaller/medium species, untamed ones will actively hunt humans.

  4. If you weren’t in flipflops and shorts, and there weren’t hundreds crawling all over the place, definitely pick the spiders, they’re tiny and way more afraid of you than you of them (unless you’re arachnophobic), the ‘big’ size is actually irrelevant there, but it’s the fact they’re deadly poisonous ones, combined with the other two points (hundreds & ur in flipflops) that should quickly rule that one out though unfortsh.

  5. Do not choose the saltwater croc! Luckily no one did. Again, one of the few (perhaps only those three) predators to actively/consistently hunt humans without hesitation. They don’t need to eat for weeks or even months after a big meal, but since it was specified it was hungry and you were in its personal space - big nono!

  6. That leaves the great white shark… those of you guys who chose that chose the wisest by a longshot (unless you’re a really experienced snake handler), contrary to the ‘Jaws’ stereotype, sharks generally aren’t active human hunters, and when they strike it’s overwhelmingly by mistake (e.g. mistaking you for a seal in blurry water or something), and often don’t even follow through after biting out of curiosity before realizing you’re not a seal. Defs with great whites anyways. Also, sharks need a large amount of room to survive as they need to keep moving for their gills to breath, so either it’s struggling/dying or the enclosure is much bigger than the others and it’s most likely swimming around looking for an escape, not just thinking about you - all you’d have to do was avoid the edge (it’ll likely swim around the perimeter) but keep an eye on it facing it with eye contact and not spashing or moving around too much or quickly, idealy still, and you’ve got good chances of getting out in one piece.

You open the front door greeted by some chirpy birds, and sit down at a table on the porch outside. It’s a beautiful day, and sat on the table is a plate/bowl with (more than one if you like):

  • Pancakes
  • Porridge
  • Cereal
  • Fruit
  • Toast (with whatever you want)
  • Waffles
  • Buttered pretzels
  • Croissant
  • Pie
  • A slice of cake
  • Yoghurt
  • Something else?

I went with other for breakfast, does the US have Museli as a thing? I don’t class this as cereal but maybe it’s just me!

I thought about it but decided same thing, or a variant

I had to Google it so I don’t think it is a thing at least in the Midwest U.S. but it looks good. I’ll have to try it if I see it anywhere.

I didn’t pick coffee, though I’d flip the “on” switch the minute I get out of bed. And I can grab the fruit and yogurt more quickly than making toast.
