The ones I saw looked like this and were selling for $1200. They were beautiful!
What a prices isn’t it
Lovely chair though!
God, I covet classic Herman Miller stuff so much. That’s gorgeous.
I love this thread @SoberWalker and everyone here! Fellow thrifter here. I have so many items and had many and given lots away also. I like changing things up and like you said, Claudia, sometimes we have to let things go to get new thrifted items. When I’ve moved in the past has ha always been an opportunity to purge some things and start fresh but I have some treasures I’ve kept. I’ll take some pics when the sun comes up!
Here are some of my pieces that are more permanent fixtures. I have a thing for birds, so I guess I collect bird stuff. I love these brass storks and quail. I really ought to polish them, though I like the patina they have right now, too.
Images of birds are great, too. This fun wall hanging was a thrift store find. Definitely hand made. (I know, that wall color is awful. I’ll paint the walls eventually!)
This hand painted pitcher from Mexico is classic in style and imagery. I found it at a monthly estate sale collective we have here.
And this pair of copper plates with the Aztec calendar also came from that estate sale another time. I think eventually I will hang them on the wall. We are still arranging art at our “new” house, after almost a year here
That sure are nice items you found there. I like those brass bird and if I had them I woudn’t polish them When I’m back from my holiday I will put some items I bought trough the years here too. I’m busy packing now.
To many stuff and I want all to fit in that one bag
The worst part is that I have to carry that and a smaller bag as well as a handbag, blanket and pillow all by myself tomorrow.
Going to be fun
Have a great trip!
I did not know about this thread! I am a thrifting magician! What a great reason to get back to it!
Thank you
Not looking forward to the 20 houres by bus, but I’ll make it
Welcome Jené, love to see all your treasures!
Might be breaking the thread rule since this is not from a thrift shop like my others - but it is second-hand.
Stumbled on a locally-owned memorabilia shop yesterday, and they had TWO five-level glass display cases full of bobbleheads. FULL.
I asked how often they get them, and they said they had just gotten a massive collection from someone a few months prior, that’s why they had so many. Pity it’s not ongoing!
Anyhow, I saw this and it was an immediate “gotta have it”. In line with my love of iconic mascots, I give you, The Swinging Friar. He’s the mascot of the San Diego Padres - that’s “Padre” in the religious sense, hence the Swinging Friar. Probably my personal favorite baseball mascot. It’s also a commemorative bobble of the team’s 50th anniversary.
Cherry on top - this was priced at less than half of what I was expecting/what I was prepared to pay for it. Absolutely thrilled. Likely my new favorite one.
I’m going to see a game in San Diego in a bit under two weeks, never been. Gonna try to meet the Friar himself!
Side note, I have some tabletop acrylic risers being delivered today in order to display my collection better - I’ll post a photo once they are set up.
Looks really cool all together T mac
Got my attention at the antique mall last month, but it was $115
Today I saw it again and got it for $10
I really like the picture, but that frame is not doing it any favours - oddball borders having a conversation with my OCD right now.
Yeah pity it doesn’t fit perfectly, I agree.
I love the frame itself, though!
Maybe a new frame mat board could be custom cut to steal a little off the sides and give it a more suitable border?
Would be cheap and also let you keep the frame.
A nice mat also looks fancy and professional
Found an old little can with cute cats on it. It’s old and some of the paint has faided by time.
But bought it anyway.
Use it for my daily cards with affirmations.
Curious how old it is and where it has been used for. No marks for a brand ore so on it. So no clue.
I got this mid century Cambridge ware fruit bowl at a thrift shop earlier in the week for £6. It had seen better days but I took it into my woodworking class today and made some repairs, sanded down the scrapes and the old finish and applied fresh wax to the wood. I’m pleased with how it turned out.
6 quid is a steal and now it looks good as new! Great pickup!
