Today is day one…

Oh man, been there. Those blackouts suck! I hate being told the horrible things ive done.
The good news is there is a way of life to help you. Ive relapsed a few times and i dont know what tomorrow will bring, but tonight i will go to sleep sober one more night and wake up tomorrow hangover and blackout free.
If you have local AA meetings i would suggest starting there, or on zoom.

There is also intherooms online or an app

Also there is the everything AA app that has everything you need to help you in your journey. Free books and audio tapes.

Welcome home. We can all do this one day or hour at a time. :hugs:

Hey gal! Welcome! Think about what you can do differently this time to support your sobriety. Life is so much better sober. Quit digging for a new bottom. You deserve sobriety.

Welcome! Don’t give up!! Have you ever used anything like this or gone to meetings in the past? I hope this is a new step that will help keep you on track  I am here for a similar reason and never wanting to do that again has been keeping me straight, as well as checking in on here daily. This app is very helpful with the community and the journaling. Its hard but every day sober is worth it!

This is my first time with the app, I haven’t been to a meeting I’ve tried this whole time by myself It’s just hard trying to explain to someone who doesn’t relate

Sobriety is about you. It doesn’t matter who doesn’t understand or has other opinions. You don’t need to explain it to anyone and you don’t need anyone’s approval to get sober.
This is about you getting honest with yourself and working for a better life. Which you can also achieve if you go about it the right way. You’ll find community in AA and also here in the forum, which is a great asset. You’ll learn the ropes and develop healthy habits. Learn to deal with your emotions and so-called triggers. Develop a relationship with yourself that’s good and warm, not disconnected and twisted. And rectify your existing relationships over time by becoming a better person in recovery.

Welcome here and I wish you well on your journey!

I’m glad you decided to come here this time instead of trying all alone. I’ve dont that before too and it never worked. Since I’ve been here I’ve made it to almost 100 days sober. You got this! How is day two? I know after a night like you had its going to be hard for a while :pensive: but just focus on staying sober and good changes you can make instead of focusing so much on what already happened

Today is day one for me too, I also got blacked out drunk last night and broke up with my boyfriend and said some very mean things.
I woke up this morning and poured all the booze down the drain and am going to attend a virtual AA meeting here very soon. One day at a time I guess… I understand your pain and I wish you great success. You can do this

We all started on day 1. Shame and guilt we dealt with

I’m so sorry. Blacking out brings out so many negative emotions and guilt but try to let go of them and know you are a good person. One day at a time. :pray:t3::pray:t3:

Well done on not giving in.
It’s really going to be worth it in the end.
Try spend as much time on this app, reading and getting advice.

First week I used melatonin at night to sleep. After the first couple of weeks I quit. It makes me extremely foggy the next day so I rarely take it now.

Also, this is a community that is open and proud of every person on here. Day one or day 10k. Feel free to open up and share your story. My failures are worth way more than my successes this time around.

Everyone screws up, big deal. Just change the behavior so it doesn’t repeat itself.

Congratulations on beginning this journey! The path can be bumpy and it takes a lot of work, but to me it’s definitely worth it to remain myself and not drunk a-hole me, to remember what I’ve don’t the night before when I wake up each morning, and not to feel hungover and anxious and crappy every dang day. You’ll get there, and not every day will be great but they’ll all be better.

Thanks for this info. Currently listening to a chapter of the big book before sleep via the Everything AA app. I really like it to have it all in one place, my sleep enjoys it too
