Welcome mind if I ask you what motivated you to stop drinking this time?

Health and financial reasons. I spend way too much money on alcohol and have put on some weight.

Well whatever your reason is, welcome we’re happy you’re here. Have you tried AA?

No…nor am i interested. I’m feeling like this is not the place for me.

There is people in this community that get sober all kinds of ways. Some people suggest Alcoholics Anonymous because that’s what has worked for them. There is many programs out there and ways to stay sober. Some people get Into fitness or exercising or back into old hobbies and that is enough to keep them sober, some people join Alcoholics Anonymous, some people go back to church or get involved with religion, some people read self-help books or listen to podcast. It really doesn’t matter what you do as long as you dedicate to staying sober And really work on your goals on a daily basis/ improving your life and practice gratitude. In my opinion this community Is a really great place for support whether you’re having a difficult time or not. Whether your day is good or bad I would try to reach out on here and connect with other people. There is recovery threads but there also is some just for fun threads like music, food, and different hobbies. Spend some time reading around and find what works for you and what you like. Welcome to the community trixie !!

Ps: It doesn’t matter how much you drank, Or how long you drank, Or what type of alcohol it was or even if drugs are a part of your story.. All that matters is you have a desire to be sober because it is impacting your life negatively. I was taught early on in recovery you don’t look for the differences in somebody’s story you look at the similarities. Drinking and it’s negative consequences suck. Sobriety is better
