I’m curious who determines whether it’s a “shit show”? Seemed like the majority of people on the thread were taking it for what it was, having some fun, and knew it was a joke/troll.

I for one like that this forum has serious sobriety conversations and support, but also some fun and banter with other folks in Recovery. It can’t be all serious all the time. I’d rather come on here and joke around with others in Recovery, sometimes we “get” each other better than “normies”.

If we’re deleting and closing things based on the loud voice of the small minority, I think that’s dangerous ground.

I made the call. Lotsa flags flying 6 or 7. That is a shitshow IMHO. You have a different suggestion on how to respond to those flags, among the others and private messages I get? If so, I am all ears.

Welcome to TS. And since we will never know who is flagging posts or what their intention is the problem will remain the same. My recommendation is to flag early and flag often. I know in real life that’s what I do.

Read through the thread and see how many people are OK and participating in what’s going on and how many people are offended.

I could go onto a perfectly wholesome thread and flag away, and the thread would be shut down? I’m just asking if we’re just using quantity of flags as the determining factor. Or is validity of flags considered?

I’m a big fan of just ignoring what I don’t care for as well. I guess I can take that approach in this situation as well.

Haha. On a serious note, catering to a few loud voices in the attempt to not alienate them, may inadvertently alienate a lot of others who were enjoying the use of this app.

Quantity was a factor in this case, yes. Each flag is looked at for ignore, approve, reject.

Someone is always offended or alienated no matter which decision is made with a flag or closing a topic.

You know I respect you sassy so please don’t take offense to this, but when it’s one person determining the quality of the flag is that truly representative of the forum as a whole. I understand you are in the terrible position of being the only active mod, with a huge assist from @c-sun, but the other two are out living their lives in the world. Robin definitely doesn’t like me so I can’t count on him to be objective. So maybe the solution is more mods. Or a panel of active users who aren’t mods, but around enough to review flags within a reasonable time. Please leave me off that list for obvious reasons.

I agree 100%. More mods are needed. Who is up for it??

Ok. I’ll stick to just checking in. :ok_hand:t2:

I’ll do it though I don’t think that anyone thinks that I could be impartial.:joy::joy::joy:

well you could tell the person “hey if your an atheist maybe stay away from a thread called no atheist please”. If someone clicks a thread that will obviously be triggering to them I believe part of the blame is on them. There are so many threads i mute and people I ignore because its not up to everyone else to make me feel comfortable.

@Robin, many of us agree we could use more active moderators (see a few posts above). I will take some blame for being on here too much, so I answer flags and issues most often. My moderating is causing issues, so let’s find a solution. Happy to work with additional moderators, step down, or whatever you feel is best. Thanks for helping us work out a good solution.

There nothing wrong with your moderating believe me. :+1::slightly_smiling_face:

Your the best moderator you just need a yin to your yang. I think @englishd should be the other moderator

I wasn’t suggesting you not interact in threads, simply that moderating is a wee bit more problematic than you may be aware.
