Vegas! Let’s call it Sober City... 😳

Headed to Vegas tomorrow for a 4 day Work event. Cocktail party tomorrow night, awards ceremony and dinner Saturday. All with a bunch of HEAVY drinkers - seems to be the norm in my industry. Feeling pretty good that I will make it through without drinking. I just keep reminding myself what an ugly mess I become when drunk and at my level I need to have more self-respect. I have some escape plans in the back of my mind if necessary. Let’s do this!!!

I can’t say I envy you. That sounds challenging. But you’re already thinking ahead and planning. Sounds like you’ve already given yourself permission to escape if you need to. That’s really awesome. You care about yourself and you are worth it. At least there will be FANTASTIC people watching.

You know how I stay awake at boring “all hands” meetings? I entertain myself by watching everyone else fight to stay awake.

Even when I was drinking, I didn’t drink around my coworkers, especially management. I had a great time watching other people get tanked, as nothing is more potent than free booze.

The 2nd day was more fun. I watched people with ripping hangovers fighting to stay awake during the boring meetings.

You got this girl!!! It’s not like anyone will remember that you are sober so who cares?

I was thinking just that!! It’s probably a little sadistic - but whatever gets me through!! :joy::joy:

Thanks!!! And ain’t that the truth!!

It sounds to me as though you have a pretty good plan for getting through this event without any drinking.
That’s excellent news, and even just the fact that you WANT to get through it without any drinking is already indicative of the fact that you can do it.
Otherwise, have a good time.

A sadist enjoys inflicting pain on others. It’s not sadistic, as I’m not inflicting pain on anyone. They are inflicting it on themselves. They aren’t enjoying their self-inflicted pain either, so it can be masochistic.

Made it through the first night!!! It was tough, but feeling great this morning!! Woke up at 6 am Vegas time and caught the sunrise. I know there are multiple people that will struggle through our business meetings today and I won’t be one of them. Hoooooray!!!

Wow! Congratulations!

I’m going to be in Vegas for a week next month, and I’m hoping that things will go as well for me !
Of course, I’ll be on my own, so no parties to attend or anything like that, but it does still tend to flow pretty easily there.
