What do you?

When really have no one to turn to, talk to, be there for you?

I use this app. Usually I get on the daily check in thread. And put whatever is bothering me out there. No matter what. It halves the problem just sharing it. Sure there are meetings and support groups you could go to. But at first all I had was TS. And my wife. She couldn’t help. No family. And basically no friends. Cept my dogs and cats.

What’s up?

Come here and read, reply if I can, and post when I can.

What’s going on? Are you ok?

I relied heavy on this app. I made some connections here that spawned into real-life friendships.

If you need an ear to bend, shoot me a private message.

I feel u. I really don’t have friends to talk to. Loneliness has been hitting me hard recently.

But I’m here on TS.

Also keeping busy with work and my kiddos. I have my kids.

Stay connected :folded_hands:

Well I log in here of course. This morning I was just telling my cousin via text that after losing my little sister and 2 aunts my contact list was way short. I often feel like I don’t have anyone to talk to as well. Welcome to TS! :hot_beverage:

I’d love to give you the answer I’m supposed to give. Truth is… I don’t reach out to my sponsor, family or friends. Sadly, I squish it down and get mad at myself for having those feelings. I have felt like a bother to others for 25 years and I just isolate when I get those feelings. It’s not healthy, but I’ve learned that drinking only intensifies my emotions in a negative way. This app gives me an outlet that allows me to vent or offer my experience, strength and hope. This too shall pass …. :folded_hands::crossed_fingers::blush:

Had blow up with Hubby they have back on very high doses steroids along with the Chemo. And he was just being a totally ass… which I know it is the steroids. But I wanted to just vent it out. And picking up my phone last night and the realization hit hard. I didn’t have anyone really to call and talked too. Mom gone. Sisters, well, let’s put it this way, I feel like only child. My Daughter not option. no real friends.

Which got me spiraling into the world of who can talk too, who can I turn too, what I’m going to do when he is gone.

I find myself reaching out here and I thank you for your support and being there. It really did helped me not feel so alone. Thank you, offer to PM @HoofHearted, I’m sure to take you up on it.

I tried responding last night but was too busy crying and that is how I went sleep.

I’m doing ok this morning with puff eyes. It is new day and more Dr appointments.

I’m still spiraling and worrying a bit in my head. But, I will try my best to stay in today.

I feel ya. I have also battled with loneliness and I don’t really have anyone to call to. All my friendships are text-based which is better than nothing, but I miss the face-to-face contact. Luckily I have a strong faith, so I don’t feel so alone.

Feel free to drop me a PM, too. I think we live close. I also have no fam, and after some bad medical news I had a slip, so I’m back here with a vengeance. Life is in session, no days off. Let’s take care of ourselves and each other.

I know how much it hurts to feel lonely, especially during emotionally overwhelming moments. My inbox is always open to you. I’m sorry it was such a crummy day.

I use Reddit. There are a lot of subreddits for people in Recovery! There is the Phoenix/NewForm app. I’m a member of TLC, or pop on a AA meeting if I’m feeling off. Text a friend, color, write in my journal app, take a look at my “day count”, go outside ANYTHING but drink. In the beginning I stayed busy. I had no idea how much time drinking was using. So it felt like I had a TON of time.

I have found myself in the same situation of not having anyone to talk to when I really needed someone.

I have made some great friendships from this app and know I can call / text at any time I’m in need. If I can’t reach someone, I know that I can log on here and connect with peers instantly. Even though this app is filled with strangers from all over the world I feel a close connection to the members. You are all my friends and have helped me through some rough patches.

I am so sorry for what you are dealing with. You are not alone. You can lean in us at any time. Message me at any time as well :people_hugging:.

Hoping today will be a better day :two_hearts:

It’s hard to imagine you having rough times. You are sooo darn supportive of others. I can honestly say I believe you are quintessential to the success of this community. Yes- hard times in life are inevitable and affect us all. It’s lovely to know when we can have friends / a community to lean on to help us through. :people_hugging:.

I’m doing ok. You @JazzyS have also been one of my biggest supporters and appreciate you more than I can express. I feel contact to you many others here. Coming across this place was a gift. I have total of 538 days sober, they may not all be stack up in a row, but they are still alcohol free days, which never would happened if not for this community.
And the feeling of being lonely seems to be common which oddly makes it easier to get though those hard moments. I appreciate everyone who replied to me. I’m worried about what lays ahead but I will do my best to stay in today

Hope you are doing well today.

It is so hard to make in person new friends as adult.

Remember when we were just walking up to another kid and asking “you want be my friend”and run go have fun. Or just join group of kids playing on the playground.

Congratulations on all these days sober. That’s really impressive.

I’ve noticed no one has suggested going to a meeting. I don’t know where you are or if meetings are available where you live. Anyway……..

I got almost all of my support here and made tons of friends. After 3 years of sobriety I needed more. I started going to AA speaker meetings. I was fortunate to be in Scottsdale at the time. And these Friday night speaker meetings were very big. I did not make any friends. I am not very good at hobnobbing. Even at meetings today. I feel like I don’t fit in. And it’s so awkward standing around and few people that are chatting and trying to fit in. So I say fuck it!

For my first 6 months of AA I just went to this big speaker meeting and listened. It made me feel good just to be out and around people who get it. I don’t have to make friends if it’s too uncomfortable or if I don’t want to. But I kept an open mind to the pleasantries of hi and bye nice to see you again and that’s it.

I’m basically still the same way at meetings. And I been going to the same meeting on the beach for about 2 years now here in Malibu. I still don’t make any friends. But it feels good to be out with people. Maybe some day. I doubt it though.

I’ll stick with this app and I do have my wife. But she doesn’t get it either. Whatever “it” is.
Nice to see you around again.
:hugs:
