What labs should I request? Asap!

68 days here. Diagnosed with fatty liver in December, they also found a hemangioma, bloodwork was normal, xray, catscan and ultrasound showed just the hemangioma, and nothing else looked off. I go in tomorrow to see why I’m still struggle bussing with symptoms on only my right side… Anywho what bloodwork or tests should I request, I have decent insurance until end of the month so im trying to ask for everything! Both times I had a CBC, CMP and lipase that all came back normal so they werent “concerned” Any advice on what things I should test are welcome!

If you want to sound knowledgeable and concerned, you could ask your provider about a Fibroscan(transient elastography) to help grade the liver damage. Also don’t be afraid to ask them to put the reports into laymen terms for you. Out bodies heal more quickly when we understand what is going on. Stay positive!!!

Leave it to the pros.

I’d ask the doctor the question you are asking here. They would know what’s in your best interest.

Good luck with the your tests. I wish the best for the results. I just had a look at my online chart to see what tests were performed. Way too many to list here.

A liver panel would definitely be warranted and a lipid panel could probably tell you some things too.
Good luck!

Have you had a LFT (Liver function test), if not have one and check what the gamma gt level is.

I’m hopeful my diet changing and no drinking has helped with it and maybe my symptoms arent liver related. Hopefully I’ll get some answers or pointed in the right direction.

Lipid panel and LFTs are part of a CMP, in most lab orders. Your scans have been free of fibrosis and/or cirrhosis, so all looks mild at this time. Alcoholic fatty liver disease and NAFLD is manageable from the approaches already mentioned. Yes, females have an earlier development (~7 yrs earlier compared to men) of the complications from alcoholism. Let’s not drink today is the plan first & foremost! The other stuff is easy.

Didnt see the lipid or lfts in the cmp…

As far as Fatty Liver, my Doc says probably 50 to 75 % of people have this due to our diets. Yes, changing what we eat and abstaining from alcohol can definitely help. I’ve had fatty liver as long as I can remember. Ask for the LFT and Lipid panel. The pain in the right side, depending on upper or lower, could be numerous things. Good luck!!!
