What song summarizes your struggle with addiction?

I spent twenty years trying to get out of this place
I was looking for something I couldn’t replace
I was running away from the only thing I’ve ever known
Like a blind dog without a bone
I was a gypsy lost in the twilight zone
I hijacked a rainbow and crashed into a pot of gold

I been there, done that
But I ain’t looking back on the seeds I’ve sown
Saving dimes, spending too much time on the telephone
Who says you can’t go home?

Who says you can’t go home?
There’s only one place they call me one of their own
Just a hometown boy born a rolling stone
Who says you can’t go home?
Who says you can’t go back?
I been all around the world, and as a matter of fact
There’s only one place left I want to go
Who says you can’t go home?
It’s alright, it’s alright, it’s…

Another Bon Jovi. Obviously I have an obsession. lol

This ain’t a song for the broken-hearted
No silent prayer for faith-departed
And I ain’t gonna be just a face in the crowd
You’re gonna hear my voice when I shout it out loud

It’s my life
It’s now or never
But I ain’t gonna live forever
I just want to live while I’m alive

My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, “I did it my way”
I just want to live while I’m alive
It’s my life

Yeah, this is for the ones who stood their ground
For Tommy and Gina, who never backed down
Tomorrow’s getting harder, make no mistake
Luck ain’t even lucky, got to make your own breaks

It’s my life
And it’s now or never
I ain’t gonna live forever
I just want to live while I’m alive

My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, “I did it my way”
I just want to live while I’m alive
'Cause it’s my life

Awe…, this was my second choice for your 500 day celebration yesterday.

I thought I’d play it safe and went with The Boss. Why waste it. Happy 501 Lisa. You deserve 2 celebrations anyway.

I dont know the name but it goes.

“I spend all my money drinking on my own, sitting in this bar just staring at my phone”

Ouch hits me right in the uncomfortable memories department

Tenesse Whiskey :sleepy:

Used to spend my nights out in a barroom
Liquor was the only love I’ve known
But you rescued me from reachin’ for the bottom
And brought me back from being too far gone

You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You’re as sweet as strawberry wine
You’re as warm as a glass of brandy
And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time

I’ve looked for love in all the same old places
Found the bottom of a bottle’s always dry
But when you poured out your heart I didn’t waste it
'Cause there’s nothing like your love to get me high

You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You’re as sweet as strawberry wine
You’re as warm as a glass of brandy
And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time

You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You’re as sweet as strawberry wine
You’re as warm as a glass of brandy
And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time

You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
Tennessee whiskey
Tennessee whiskey

You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
Tennessee whiskey
Tennessee whiskey

Another song that really hit me hard when I was drink was Bartender by Dave Matthews. It was like he was saying my prayer for me, me praying with him singing along through my tears as I drank and played this song on repeat…

dave matthews band - bartender

If I go, before I’m old
Oh brother of mine please don’t forget me, if I go

Bartender please
Fill my glass for me
With the wine you gave Jesus, that set him free
After three days in the ground

Oh, and if I die, before my time
Oh, sweet sister of mine
Please don’t regret me, if I die

Bartender, please
Fill my glass for me
With the wine you gave Jesus, that set him free
After three days in the ground

I’m on bended knees
I pray bartender please

When I was young I didn’t think about it
Now I just want to run and hide

I’m on bended knees, father please

Oh, and if all this gold, here, should steal my soul away
Oh, dear mother of mine,
Please redirect me, if this gold

Bartender, you see, the wine that’s drinking me
Came from the vine that strung Judas from the Devil’s tree
His roots deep, deep in the ground

In the ground, you watch the light

I’m on bended knees,
Oh, Bartender, please
I’m on bended knees
Father, please

When I was young I didn’t think about it
Now I just want to run and hide

I’m on bended knees, oh Bartender, please
Bartender, please

Probably a obvious one for me it’s a tune I’ve always felt has portrayed the way I feel and felt like in my life. Then the drink got involved so it was me down to a tee :man_shrugging:

This sums up where I am in recovery…

The Rain Song

These are the seasons of emotion
And like the winds they rise and fall
This is the wonder of devotion
I see the torch we all must hold
This is the mystery of the quotient
Upon us all, upon us all a little rain must fall…
